not to derail the thread though new to japanese whiskeys. recently tried the Matsui Mizunara cask whiskey which is great. which blended whiskeys do you like? headed to the liquor store this afternoon
yeah, i'd hate to derail this thread too much, but wanted to answer your question.
my favorite blended Japanese whiskey is Nikka from the Barrel and Shin 15yr. my favorite pure Japanese is Suntory Yamazaki 12yr and 18yr. i've been craving some 18yr, but my wife is forbidding me from opening any more bottles we have of the 18yr due to the increase in value. we purchased a case of 18yr yamazaki years ago, but with a recent article coming out, the value of each bottle skyrocketed, so i've been drinking more american these days.
