So.
Got my first kill today.
Been hunting when I can find time in the last 5 years.
(I’m a workaholic, so not much effort)
Tried modern rifle the last 3/5 years when I bought a tag and maybe tried to go hunt.
This year I went with muzzleloader.
Tried last week. Jumped a doe stupid close in a thicket in any deer area and didn’t pull the trigger.
Wanted a buck.
Kicked my own ass all week
So work was canceled with the snow today.
So me was like oh yeah let’s go in the woods.
Was walking through and had a group of does walk in front of me.
Blasted one from like 35 yards.
In my never fired muzzleloader. ( I bore sited it)
Lol.
Hit it in the upper leg and front gut.
She went maybe 30 yards and fell and died.
Finally got my deer.
Woohoo.
A buck woulda been cool.
But at least my blood lust was quenched.
And everyone can stop talking shit.

Congrats, does eat as good or better than big bucks, spikes and forked horns are excellent also. I’ve eaten more spikes and forked horn then I have adult deer. I’m a meat hunter not a trophy hunter.
My first deer 20+ years ago was a thick two point with a gray muzzle, he was not very good table fare at all.
The biologist at check point said it was a 6-7 year old animal. He also lamented that their antlers regress every year once they turn adults depending on regions. That’s what he told me and I have no way of knowing if that is true or not.
