Hello everyone, As I had mentioned in a previous post, I am interested in giving back to the shooting world by hosting giveaways each month, as long as business is doing well and I can afford it. With that said, I had dropped the hint that the next giveaway may be WaGuns only. I've got an extra Gen 2 Glock 19. Early 92 (January?) Manufacture, that honestly hasn't been shot since 2001. Depending on interest from the community here, I'd like to rejuvenate this Glock and possibly give it away to a lucky winner. What I need from you guys? I need to know what interest there is in this. Or if you'd rather prefer something else like another giveaway of free work. This Glock will be rebuilt internally and refinished accordingly. If this is something you'd like to see, then tell me what kind of finish it should have? If this Glock is what you guys want, how do you want it to look? There's a lot going on right now since http://www.olympiccerakote.com went live, but if there's enough interest I will make this happen for you guys and gals. Looking forward to some good input! Mike @ Olympic Cerakote

Hi Mike! First, Thank you! As for what I would like to see? I would be very happy to have a giveaway and I'm not to fussy. Free is free so I would be all over it! Also for what? I'm your average guy (or less than average). I would have no clue as to what cerekote... I would say do it up. Show us what's available and what you guys offer - use it to showcase your style and skills. As a demo of what is available. Thanks!

Thanks for considering. As it is a Gen 2, I wouldn't go all out. They're somewhat hard to come by (not terrible). As such, I'd prefer to see it done to retain the classic look. By that I mean I wouldn't want to see it stippled or with some outlandish coating. Something reminiscent of how they came from the factory. I'd say "rejuvenate" or "restore" are the words most appropriate. I would not look to "reinvent". Great idea. I've got a Gen 2 that is a bit rough around the edges, but they're great little guns. If you do want to spice it up a bit, I'd perhaps cerakote the slide. In a classic metallic type finish, maybe bronze. Something similar to this is about as "flashy" as I'd suggest: Great Idea. Thanks again. I'm definitely interested.

I'd love a pistol like that for my BOB.
As for finish, I've always been partial to OD Green and Tactical Gray...but not necessarily together. One or the other.
Thanks for offering this up. I'm very interested to see how this plays out.

Thanks guys! Keep the comments coming!
Joao, I was thinking something along the same lines as you. No stippling as that is a very personal thing and I don't want it to stop people from entering. I was contemplating a dark finish to keep it classy. Maybe something along the lines of a Grey tone, or perhaps Midnight Blue or Socom Blue with black parts all around for some contrast. Something to set it apart but not a flashy look.
Quant, I know everyone has guns, and I intend on doing whatever I can to help everyone out there in refinishing things. However because the October giveaway wasn't posted till late, I didn't feel WaGuns members really had a fair chance. So because of that I was wanting to go a little further this month. A step above if you will. I suppose I could just let the winner choose a finish as well.
Lots of options here, which is why I'm opening the floor to everyone to contribute an opinion on what you'd want to see and/or win.

I think a "classic" like that needs to look classic. I'm thinking graphite black with burnt bronze in a worn look would be cool.
And since there clearly isn't that much interest, I propose a drunken arm wrestling match between myself and Breck to determine the winner. (I might lose terribly, but it would be interesting!)

I'm all for a free gun, but I also realize that I already have A LOT of guns. I would also be down for a custom job on one of my existing pieces.
But, as far as color. On that one glock... weathered, distressed look would be cool.

Thanks guys. Appreciate it.
So it seems like the majority would prefer work done on their existing guns.
Perhaps we'll go with a custom job this month and save the Glock for later on?

I could really use a G19. Don't own any Glocks at all. I keep waiting for Glock to make a G19-sized .45acp. Prob won't ever happen, though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
