Periodically I’m asked about timelines for project completion and cure times.
As a standing rule, I practice “first in, first out” and your items will be ready within the time frame I give you. It could be two days, it could be three to four weeks.
How do I determine the timeline? My knowing what work I have ahead of me and how long it will take to obtain supplies if needed and how long your job will take.
How does an item get moved up in line? If someone is next and has a part(s) that are getting the same color as your part that is supposed to be days or weeks out, your part may get prepped and coated for that same color at the same time. It depends on how much time it will take for your part. I prefer to keep things fair with my customers and therefore, I don’t do “rush jobs” so there is no way for someone to get ahead by way of money.
I also make it a point to limit the amount of items I keep. I do not want 2-3 months of work items stored on my property before I get to them. For me, it’s just not a good business practice.
For Cerakote Elite and H series final cure times and temps:
300 degrees for metal that can handle it at 1 hour
200 degrees for metal for 2 hours
150-180 degrees for plastic and poly for two hours.
C series is air cured and takes a maximum of five days.
For DuraCoat, it can take up to four weeks if you only let it air cure. The initial cure can be done in 20 minutes at 200 degrees Final cure time can be shortened with use of their quickener.

I mixed some black and white Cerakote colors to achieve this gray for a custom color (Black Hammer Gray) on this SCAR forearm.

Nice. The new black. One you go gray you never go gay.

Traut brought me his Competitor Corp pistol that had survived a house fire for refinishing and requested a woodland camo, something not digital, and it just so happened that I had some stencils left over from another job that would work. Not a perfect match but, it kept the work at a good price for both of us. Most of the exterior small parts had rust on them and had to be prepped by hand before blasting and refinishing. FYI, you don’t want to rust in your blast media so remove the rust before blasting. The small exterior parts were then parkerized as seen here. The barrel, muzzle device and breech block cap were coated with Cerakote H series.
