This thread got me looking into fixed blade outdoor camping blades, I went to benchmade and spent some cash on their Bushcrafter

get a ferrocerium rod blank and glue on your own handle. The bigger the better on the rod blank.

I've started a new one. I'll be posting some photos here. I started with a 3/4" steel cable, hammered it into a flatbar and cut out a blank.
