Smash and grab, two green bags (see photos) containing misc nylon gear, ops core helmet, L3 binos (BNVD 1531) and an AR (aero lower, DD RIS II upper build, aimpoint T2, PEQ15) taken from vehicle. Photo of suspect, bags, suspect vehicle below.

Occurred at 1123 AM February 23 2024 at 7050 Tacoma Mall Blvd (Home Depot)

I know mistakes were made here, believe me I've done nothing but abuse myself for how this could've been avoided for 48 hours. Getting an item returned from a friend who worked at the store, he was supposed to come out, couldn't, in a rush so we popped in for five minutes, fuck saw the bags and grabbed them. No items were visible, he just saw the bags.

Vehicle here is a Silver Honda Odyssey 2011-2017 with touring wheels and sun roof. Appears to have no plates. If you see this man or the vehicle please call the police immediately and contact me 206-SevenOneEight-17SevenThree - Duncan

UPDATE: Firearm was recovered by Tukwila PD and is in their custody. The NVGs and bag pictured below are still missing. ANY INFO appreciated.

Ooof.

At least you have a clear photo of him. Did he buy anything at HD?

Yes he purchased duct tape and plastic wrap - pretty suspicious. He used a prepaid visa gift card unfortunately.

damn. Sorry you got to deal with this. If you have them, I'd post up serial numbers of any of the equipment you might have.

That’s great.

Do you know the story of how it was recovered?

The process of getting my gun back is still up in the air unfortunately. They found the gun in a stolen truck, not the vehicle that took my stuff originally. No arrests were made. That is all I know.

It will be interesting to see how HB1240 affects the return of the AR. I haven’t looked to see if there is an exemption for stolen returns.

Your firearm will be held in evidence until the detective clears it for release and the agency will most likely perform a background check on you before returning it to you.

Well that may be the silver lining of no arrest being made when they recovered it: no associated case for it to sit in evidence with. The officer on duty at the station seemed to believe return would be prompt without any associated case. Who the fuck knows? I'm an FFL holder, although this wasn't FFL property, it's possible they'll insist it goes onto my books or something. None of the officers I spoke to mentioned 1240, and did not seem to anticipate any issue with the return. They may not be the ones who process that though, and every department will be different so I wouldn't make broad assumptions about what will happen. Ultimately the situation is totally fucked and I'm powerless to do anything about it.
