Hey guys, been in Wa for about 4-ish months now, local shop told me about the page, looking to meet some cool people in the 2A community here since its seems to be shadowed by Evergreeners and Hipsters. Any local groups do weekend handgun training?

Welcome to WaGuns! Fellow Olympia guy here. I don't know of any regular handgun training, but there are always people out shooting. We have a "I'm going shooting thread": viewtopic.php?f=40&t=78174 where people post up when they are going shooting and when, so others can join. Other than that, a lot of fellow Oly people shoot either up in the Capital Forest or at Evergreen Sportsmen's Club. You will almost always find a WaGunner out at ESC.

Not exactly training, more like "exercise", which is not the same thing - every weekend there is at least one IDPA, or USPSA, or ASI match in the area. See the competition sub forum viewforum.php?f=42

See the competition sub forum http://www.waguns.org/viewforum.php?f=42This is the best advice! The community at the competitions is great.

What kind of training are you specifically looking for?
Basic, intermediate, advanced, special ed?
Self defense?
Now, tell me what your experience is now.
As for training makes you better? Yes and No. Just depends on your training, who's training and what they are training.
I had a guy who took $$$$ classes at several "National School" The level he took really focused on "stepping off the mark" Basically making you move a step or two - sort of making you move and shoot. The only problem is when he was forced to move and shoot over more than a step... he looked like a square block trying to roll. So lock your knees and take a few steps. You get the idea. Not smooth and moving...
So, does training make you better? Yes and No
