Post subject:  Seeking DIY ideas : Tinker Town

I am not sure if there's a market for a DIY thread.
A thread of DIY making/building... Originally thinking under reloading (already a DIY topic) but there are so many fun projects outside of the reloading room.

Two types of posts... Ideas and actual builds by a fellow Wagunner. (Or 2 separate threads? Or a forum? *click* that sounded like a veto from Dan and Steve on the separate forum. They are quick and 1984ish.)
MadPick Steve's immediate reaction was to hurt my feelings then kick me, but he does that so regularly that I am not sure if it was related to my suggestion.
Dan's response was "Tinker Town" which sounds like a super great genius idea to name a forum. What a damned shame to let a name like that get lost in a bunch of threads, right?
Pure genius. If it was a forum name.

What do my fellow makers think of the idea?

Ironworker78 has demonstrated a perfect example in his New knife work in progress
Brian did an excellent project with his foam cutter and instructions My experience on cutting pelican case foam

There are several more already on WaGuns... Some are 2A, some are specific to NFA, some are not 2A specific...

Here are some examples from outside WaGuns:
http://steampunkworkshop.com/diy-vibratory-tumbler/
http://makezine.com/ (I'm thinking of specific projects, Make Magazine doesn't actually fit the idea, but so many good ideas in there.)
Jimmy Diresta https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqE6MHYpqHA

Maybe the projects should lean towards 2A and be something that the person who posts it has plans to build?
Just floating the idea out there to watch it get sunk I guess.

As a community effort- if you find an old thread that could be included in a DIY forum, post it here and I'll compile the list in the 1st post.

At the very least we'll have a collection of links here.

Yes, some are already stickied. Qwitcherbitchin.

We have no problem with creating new forums, but there has to be content to fill it. Ya'll make content, we shall create it!

It's way more fun when I get to complain about you denying my every request.

Good point Rick.

Rick, ask him what he means by "there has to be content to fill it." It kind of sounds like he is saying there isn't content already. [/secret font]

With regard to content, here's a post I made a while back about rebuilding a Ramsey winch that would have been a good candidate. viewtopic.php?f=33&t=33092&hilit=ramsey

So it has to be 2a related?

I just recently replaced the carbon brushes in my truck window motor. Had to file them down from another motor, but I got them to work.

That sort of thing wouldn't be considered?

I thought about posting it, but figured someone would just come up with a witty response like why waste your time when you can just buy a new one?

Who you going to get to fix your stuff after the shtf, and you can't just buy a new one? This applies to way more than guns/ammo/car window motors. If you can't figure out how to fix things on your own, you are going to lose a lot of stuff because it broke...

I enjoy all sorts of DIY projects. I was just brainstorming.
I am looking forward to flooding Dan and Steve with projects when I get past a couple of time killing less interesting things I have going on.
Did you take photos? Start a thread and lets start busting down those two curmudgeonly tightwads into spending the extra money to buy a new section for WaGuns!

I might make a thread tomorrow.

I have a few crummy pics.
