Anyone here had a denial since all the new laws passed into effect?
I got denied a bolt gun purchase at Sportsman's by the WSP today.
I own 60+ firearms, several suppressors two of which were purchased within the last month.
No criminal record, haven't even had a ticket in a decade.
Really curious why I would have gotten a denial.

Anyone had this happen and gone through the appeal process? I'm curious what the turnaround time to fix this is.
Really getting sick of this fucking state.

Amen, brother.

Sorry, I can't help you . . . but man, that's just aggravating. :angryfire:

Does the UPIN still do the trick? Wouldn't he need to figure out if this was a NICS denial or some kind of WA state denial outside of NICS?

I've also heard of people with a UPIN getting delayed/denied.

That time you were 6 and your mom stopped on the side of the highway to let you take a piss has finally been entered into the system and you're now a registered sex offender for indecent exposure.

But seriously, shit like this has been happening to a lot of people. Random crap from people who got a malicious mischief charge when they got mad and threw a porcelain duck that was sitting on the porch when they were 14 are now being denied because 'domestic violence conviction'.

So, either you have some criminal history as a minor, that they're accessing, or you were wrongfully denied.. but once WSP took over background checks I've heard of 100x more denials and delays than I ever had heard of before, and for completely random crap that shouldn't have been flagged. One had a DV arrest, was found not guilty, and they used that as a reason for a denial (if you're to believe reddit posts). I can honestly say I've seen/heard more stories of delays/denials in the past couple months than I have in the past 20 years combined.

Could be mistaken identity

If someone with your same name did something bad they probably just assume everyone with that name did it till proven otherwise. When I was getting a home loan the bank came up with a list of financial judgments against people that have the same or similar name to me. A bunch of the cases were child support, I don't even have kids

I can attest to this. Fight with my brother in 2000, dropped / dismissed after probation. Now it shows up as a DV arrest

After a nasty divorce 27 years ago (no arrests or charges anywhere) makes me wonder about my ability to buy a gun.

If you live in Lord Inslime's paradise, your chances are probably not good.

Welcome to Jay Inslee's Wonderful World of Whacked out Washington Politics.

Back when NICS was a direct dial from your FFL, some of the most innocent folks would be denied. Dreadi is right in applying for a UPIN. Unfortunately, that will take forever.

I don't know if things changed but for a while, they were not doing UPINS or denial info requests due to staff shortage.

I think I was one of the last people to get a UPIN. It took about six months but man is it worth it.
