Shooter taken into custody does not equal prosecution. The former used to be police SOP, last I checked. The latter is at prosecutor's discretion.

Don't bring a knife to a gun fight...

Alternate angle.

Officer showed proper restraint, and fired when he had to... Good on him..

Personal weapons are what raised mankind out of the mud, and the rifle is the queen of personal weapons. The possession of a good rifle, as well as the skill to use it well, truly makes a man the monarch of all he surveys. It realizes the ancient dream of the Jovian thunderbolt, and as such it is the embodiment of personal power. For this reason it exercises a curious influence over the minds of most men, and in its best examples it constitutes an object of affection unmatched by any other inanimate object.

Nice. Remember what I said about shooting from a moving vehicle? It's much easier to use the 6000 (or 8000 or whatever) pound weapon that you're sitting in.

Gotta say though, he really only had to hit her with the car. Not run her over with the entire car, like that.

I saw her point the gun, which was just as bad. But I believe all the shots came from the police. (And as usual, all of them missed.)

My point is not that she didn't deserve it. She did. My point is that it is sometimes a pisser that the cops take everything to extremes, immediately. It doesn't do them any good, in the court of public opinion.

If it was me in that car, either as a cop or regular-ass citizen, I wouldn't risk it; bitch would be getting run over.

Your position in this instance seems to me to be similar to the people that say; "why didn't they just shoot the gun out of her hand?"

Agree, and good fix. Self defense is self defense.

I'd add though that law enforcement may have a greater degree of responsibility to make SURE that a known bad gal/guy is down for sure than non-LE. I still believe in the "protect and serve" antiquey motto.

I could tell by how he dropped he would die right where he fell.
Thought it was a head shot, but autopsy determined the bullet blew out his neck.,
He pulled a knife on Bellingham cops a year earlier. Must be his MO.
Makes you wonder why the violent savage was walking around loose after being charged with Assault 1 less than a year ago.
