I'm on a vacation in Florida with my wife, daughter and my daughter boyfriend. Him and I left them at Disney today and went and did a night time hog hunt using a thermal imaging scope. It was a lot of fun,I shot about a 200lb boar and I'm bringing the meat home to have it smoked. Here's a picture of the pig I shot.

I think it was a Styr in .223. Not positive but it was a bull pup design.. Not big enough caliber if you ask me,he also had a Ar 15 in .300 blk out but the thermal imaging was not working.

Well there was a mis communication on the price, the company I did this with,I'll just say I won't do another one with them or recommend anyone else to use these guys,I almost walked after we got there, they did let him shoot at one,but it was a smaller one and there was no effort to try and find it after he hit it,yes he did hit it but they didn't want to spend any time looking for it. I wasn't happy about the whole thing, even though I did get that one.

Please elaborate, I have always wanted to try pig hunting at night but finding a good outfitter seems more difficult than it could be.

When I saw the thread title, I thought it would be about the female population of Bremerton when a new ship pulls in.
OH, Right they are called Bremelows not pigs.

Having grown up in Silverdale I remember those days.

For every overweight broad in the county it was "good times". An amazing number of them got married too.

I really want to slam this guy,but in the end I did get a pig. I'll keep it kinda short,we agreed to a price on the phone but when I got there before we even left I asked ok what's this costing me,he says $450 ea to shoot a pig, that was more than twice the agreed price,I said no way I'm not doing this,my daughter BF said he wouldn't shoot one and it would be fine,I still said nope we're not going,so the guy says ok I'll let him shoot a small one then for the $450 price,I agreed to that. Backing up just a little he hands me this gun that I've never shot before, doesn't ask me anything about my gun knowledge,no big deal but you would think they'd like to know if you've at least shot a gun before. Anyway I also told the for that price I'm shooting anything big, they charge a trophy price by size of tusk,he agreed. So I'm thinking its a hunt from a blind,he says no we're just going to go walking and looking,so about 100 ft from the cars he says there they are shoot,I'm like those are all small,he says just shoot one,I didn't and they were gone,so we walk some more and we see more pigs he's saying shoot before they run,I'm looking for the biggest one, these are 75-100yrds away and he's saying take the shot,so here I am with a gun I've never shot trying to sight in on a hog,I take my time, take the shot and he yells you got him,so I hand the gun to my daughters BF and he shoots a small one, well we go to where we shot and there's no animals down and no blood at all.
Sorry this is longer than I wanted but I guess I'll finish it now....so we start looking and come to find out we're in a fenced in area probably less than 2 acres,we finally found the pig I hit, those things are tuffer than shit,If I were to do this again I'd research who I was going with, they show on there web site all the weapons you could use, they only have two,a AR in .300 blk out and the gun I used which I think was a Styr bull pup weapon in .223. That's not big enough for a 200+ lbs pig in my opinion. They were almost giving up looking for my pig,he started saying well you got to shoot a pig and we can't find it,I started looking on my own with the light from my cell phone so they started looking more.. Never even tried to find the one my daughter BF shot.

Ugh . . .that sounds like a shitheat of a guide. I use the term "guide" very loosely, since I guess he just "guided" you around a large fenced backyard.

Agreed.
Thanks for the review SC. It's good to be reminded that there are this type of "guide."

If I were to go on a pig hunt, or any other guided hunt for that matter, I would make sure I could bring and use my own rifle.

Their website should have been a giveaway that they were a pretty loosey goosey operation.

Out of curiosity, did they have any contract or agreement stating price and what they did or didn't provide?

Real pro's do.

All verbal. His website isn't that bad,he had someone do it up for him though. I don't do Facebook but my daughters BF looked them up and there reviews are good 4.8. Maybe I'm just being too critical on this guy,I guess if you just want to go into a small enclosure and kill pigs this is the place to go. I went to go pick up the meat today and there were 4 guys there that just got back from a hunt, they had 8 hogs there, one of them they say was close to 400lbs,it was already quartered out,the others were around 80-100lb hogs. I just didn't like the fact of they want you to shoot the 1st hog you see. I'll do it again but with a different company and I'm bringing my AR10 with me.
If you want to check there website it's HOG PRO INC in Orlando. Like I said they show lots of weapons to use but I think he only has 2.

That's a nice sized pig.

A nighttime hunt, in an unfamiliar territory, using somebody else's rifle, this just scares the willies out of me. I am kind of surprised you went ahead with it (not being critical, seriously). Guided hunts really do require background checks of the outfitter. I am happy it worked out well for you, because this could have turned into a bad situation.

Congratulations on the pig!
