And this boys and girls is why I am of the opinion that those stupid Punisher logos, skulls, or other shit in that vein has no place on a gun unless it is only a range toy.

"Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm -- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves." – T.S. Eliot

"The right of self defence is the first law of nature: in most governments it has been the study of rulers to confine this right within the narrowest limits possible. Wherever standing armies are kept up, and the right of the people to keep and bear arms is, under any colour or pretext whatsoever, prohibited, liberty, if not already annihilated, is on the brink of destruction." - St. George Tucker

A careful definition of words would destroy half the agenda of the political left and scrutinizing evidence would destroy the other half. - Thomas Sowell

"To ban guns because criminals use them is to tell the innocent and law-abiding that their rights and liberties depend not on their own conduct, but on the conduct of the guilty and the lawless, and that the law will permit them to have only such rights and liberties as the lawless will allow...

For society does not control crime, ever, by forcing the law-abiding to accommodate themselves to the expected behavior of criminals. Society controls crime by forcing the criminals to accommodate themselves to the expected behavior of the law-abiding." - Jeff Snyder

Personal weapons are what raised mankind out of the mud, and the rifle is the queen of personal weapons. The possession of a good rifle, as well as the skill to use it well, truly makes a man the monarch of all he surveys. It realizes the ancient dream of the Jovian thunderbolt, and as such it is the embodiment of personal power. For this reason it exercises a curious influence over the minds of most men, and in its best examples it constitutes an object of affection unmatched by any other inanimate object.

I mean, it's not doing him any favors, but it's also not some key piece of evidence. Prosecution will try to use it to attack his character. Defense will counter. District cover won't be the deciding factor.

But still, nothing on your gun will help you in a shooting case. Everything will be used against you

Oh Christ, talk about making a big deal over nothing. He should have just used a department issue rifle then it would be a non-issue. Anything like that put on a dept issue rifle should be subject to discipline.

I'm screwed. I have a WAGUNS dust cover, and a US Army one. If I'm lucky I'll have mashman for my boss.

So is this actually in court documents or just another exagerrating news article that you are using as evidence of your opinion?

Do you have any particular points to critique or do you simply not like the content of the article and my opinion on certain forms of decoration? Read the article.

The attorney for the dead guy's wife has made a public statement about that engraving. It is spelled out in the article.

Here is essentially the same thing from a cop biased website. Is that helpful? http://www.leoaffairs.com/featured/engr ... sed-court/

Here, similar commentary from a gun training website http://www.activeresponsetraining.net/d ... rig-part-4

"After court, Mesa police said it's launching an internal investigation into the gun's inscription." http://www.azfamily.com/story/31480834/ ... ype=mobile

So if you want to play the "exaggerating" card you'll need to actually critique the article, content and provide counterpoint. And here are three other articles, including one that is essentially cop propaganda, another from a gun training company, and another that is mainstream local news in Arizona all offering essentially the same commentary based off PUBLIC STATEMENTS by the lawyer of the dead person's family. So yes, the marking is being used as part of the case.

The inscription was spot on. I don't see the issue. The perp was definitely fucked.

I think this is why most departments require the carrying of department issued weapons or have a strong policy regarding which weapons and "accessories" are authorized.

Same for ammo. I'm sure that someone has or would make an issue out of non issue ammo being used in a shootout with a criminal, regardless of the circumstances that lead to the officer firing

At the least it's a distraction. At it's worst it will shift the focus to the officer's lack of taste and off the actions of the deceased prior to his demise.

As for the Dust Covers on my AR's I believe all they say is "Made in USA" in small letters if they say anything at all.

I'm gonna get a dust cover that says "I like sunshine and kittens" that way I can just say I was trying to share a message of peace and harmony.
