Not entirely accurate but gives you a better idea....

The old design with no optics and just reflectors is about as floody as you can get... The 4D is a spot beam, and the 5D uses reflectors with optics for more precise beam modification.

I have not had a chance to look at the '8D' lenses yet, but they're supposed to be a much better driving light pattern, similar to projectors.

Decided to get some Rigid fixtures.

I installed a different harness from that what comes with them so I can turn them on/off/auto.

Holes drilled for more switches.

Next week I'll have a 30" bar mounted under the hood.

Funny how little the interior has changed since '05 when mine rolled off the line.

And that's a main reason why I didn't buy a Chevy. The new interior looked just like my 2000. I wanted something new. Ford at least looked new, or newer. Even at the auto show the Chevy offerings just didn't look as good as the Ford.

And then I drove a twin turbo V6 aaaaaand done. If Chevy would have made that diesel engine for the Silverado like they do for the Colorado and it been at a price with options that I wanted and could afford, I may have kept on with Chevy.

This goes with what I've been saying for some time now.
GM, a.k.a. government motors, went out of business because they knew better than the buying public.
US buyer: "Oh kind sir, can I have a different color interior than the only one you offer?"
GM: "NO! SHUT YOUR FACE AND BUY THIS OR ELSE! YOU DON'T NEED WHAT WE WON'T GIVE YOU."
US buyer: "I guess I'll see what Toyota has to offer."
GM: "GO AHEAD. ALL THEY SELL IS CRAP STUFF FROM JAPAN."
US buyer shops at Toyota: "Wow, you mean I get a choice of interiors AND colors?" "I'm going to take a chance on buying on of these Toyota's."

Five years later...
GM: "WHAT HAPPENED TO OUR SALES?"
rinse & repeat...

I predict the same thing is happening all over again.

We went to the Toyota dealer and I was negatively impressed with the interior. They looked and felt cheap. I was quite surprised because I went there expecting something higher value than domestics and because they cost more than domestics.

I think I hit the submit button too fast.
I forgot to add that it is happening in reverse.
Japan thinks THEY know best now.

The companies that supply the best customer service will be the ones to survive.

I completely agree. The Tundra is a well built truck but I want to slide my fat ass onto a leather seat. Look at gauges wrapped in chrome trim, and see some wood grain in my interior. These damn trucks cost every bit as much as a high end european car, they should have interior appointments that match the price range. Toyota is VERY lacking in the interior department.

p. good looking truck! :thumbsup2:

When I had my Silverado on OfferUp, a dude was busting my balls about the price, "don't be greedy" and a few other offending statements. He had a Toyota that was older that my Silverado with 60,000 less miles than my truck, listed for $3500. The D-bag wasn't very bright and had the license plate clearly visible in the picture. Besides that price and offense I took to what he was saying, I thought, "This guy is a real piece of work. It wouldn't take much for me to find out what address that truck he has listed is registered to." And then go give him a piece of my mind about his price and tell him, "Don't be greedy."

I did like the outside of the Toyota. They have a modern muscular look to them and I hope they are built as well as they look. We are enjoying having the Ford though. It's big boat of a truck for me and I'm sure in 15 years it won't feel as smooth as it does now. All I need now is some dead elk, deer, bear, and coyote in the back.

This took a few hours.

Between the brackets needing to be cut, drilled, ground, and filed, the YL taking two trips to McClendon's because they sent her back with the wrong hardware, milling derlin type material to make supporting risers, and it's not even wired in yet.

Ford, you suck for cutting corners and using plastics nut spacers that easily strip. This is what your screws for the grille bumpers bite into. I stripped one.

Here's a couple pics of the derlin.

AND NOW....I realize what I should have done initially. I should have milled a slot in the bracket instead of cutting to fit and drilling a new hole. SMH :doh1:

Nice choice on lightbar, that should punch pretty good.. I will warn you though, behind the grille you'll lose a ton of light and you'll notice holes in your pattern due to the blocking bars of the grille.

Set your camera to manual exposure, and take a pic of a flat stretch of dimly lit road with the grille up and down with the lightbar on....

:-p
