It's been said millions of times that the US Constitution is probably the most important document ever written on this planet. It belongs to the United States of America @ over 240 years old. I live here and am damn proud of it and try to live up to it daily. I have no desire to live anywhere else. I'd miss all the perks. So, my question is: Why hasn't any other country bothered to copy it, word for word? Are they afraid of losing power? There are plenty of old fucks in politics that have plenty, (too much), power. (IMO they need to go but that's another topic) Just something to think about while giving thanks to those that have giving their all to protect us.

The constitution itself is about 230 years old. It replaced the articles of confederation. which gave the general government less power. The constitution gave the federal government more power.
Other countries have different origins. Our country's origins created this document. I think it is a unique history. And I think it is an overstatement to say it is the most important document on the planet. It is definitely up there as one of the most important documents to our country, along with the declaration of independence.
It isn't a perfect document - that's why there were amendments - and our country is very different than it was back then. But it is a great foundation.

I believe it has been copied? Not totally word for word, but close?
Now thinking of hanging one in my office.

SC Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg once said the US Constitution is past it's prime and has a lot of problems in current times.
She said it at a European legal convention of some kind.
She was also the senior legal counsel for the ACLU before becoming a SC justice.
She is a disgusting clown.

Hoping Ginsburg keeps her word about moving to New Zealand because of Trump.

The US Constitution isn't the best document ever written. That's why when we create Democracies in other countries, we do it differently.
We ended up with 2 ruling parties and a ruling class. We can do better. The problem is the 2 ruling parties and ruling class will never agree to amend the constitution to make it better, because it would destroy their power.

http://www.joelskousen.com/Philosophy/philosophy.htmlIN DEFENSE OF A PRINCIPLED APPROACH TO LAW by Joel M. Skousen PREFACE At first glance one might well ask, “Why would anyone object to a principled approach to law? Why the need for a defense?” The answer lies in two facts: 1) a logically consistent, non-conflicting set of principles governing law and government does not now exist, notwithstanding the great leap forward by the founding fathers of the US Constitution in establishing that liberty rests by right in the people--not by special grant of government authority. Our present legal system, is a combination of common law legal precedents and free-market traditions intermixed in the 20th century with a variety of modern social and political ideologies, which are often contradictory and conflicting. 2) Each of these two major ideologies, liberty and Socialism, have large constituencies vying either to be free from government intrusion or to harness government’s power for personal and group gain. A consistent set of principles, providing powerful restraints upon the improper powers of government or the ability of politicians to buy votes with benefits, would be very unpopular with many groups who now enjoy majority status in legislative bodies.

The Constitution is great, but we've had to amend it to keep up with changing times. I don't think the Constitution has the problems, it is the people we elect to uphold it that have the problems. People weren't supposed to be life long politicians. The goal of government back then was to serve public office as a public servant, then go back to your original job. I think we have gotten away from this over time. That and allowing special interest groups and corporations dictate new laws and regulations has gotten us away from the whole 'for the people by the people' idea. Then again the downfall to Democracy is when the people in power vote themselves more wealth and power. We are seeing this more and more. If that wasn't the case the US Citizens would be voting on politicians raises, not the politicians themselves, and term limits would have been in place long ago.

The whole swamp/deep state thing is an abysmal abuse of anything that resembles the US Constitution. Permanent power by the same people, with no controls? Who put THAT in place?
