Ok so here is my predicament, my 17 year old Daughter found out the hard way what happens when you negotiate a corner way too fast at the bottom of a steep grade and ended up high centered on a huge boulder through a cyclone fence. The Homeowner was very cool about the situation (given the circumstances) and is gonna let us cash him out after he gets a quote.

Here is my issue, the 1996 GMC Sonoma she was driving is pretty much toast:

-Frame is tweaked

-Bed is shifted about 3" to the drivers side

-Cross member is bent

-Oil pan has a few dents (but is holding oil)

-Replaced the lower control arm

-Front left wheel is broke

-Front left Tire is toast

-Gonna need brakes

-Front bumper is toast

-Front bumper air dam is gone

-Drivers side door has a gap at the top

-Misc scratches in paint

Possibly other damage but the major stuff has been listed.

Here is the positive (yes their is sort of bright side)

The truck runs like a top and actually drives pretty decent given it tried to Dukes Of Hazzard through someone's yard.

-The 4cyl Motor has only 108K original miles on it

-The Trans is solid

-Brand new clutch installed 6 months ago

So how do I try to recoup some of my $$$ out this mess?

I cannot in good conscience try to sell this on CL or any other site due to the damage and work it is gonna take to get it right so how do I get rid of this without giving it away?

I did look at a body kit for it as well as 4 new steel wheels but at this point I really don't wanna spend any more money on it minus the 300$ I already spent to get my kid back and forth to school safely.

Here is what the old girl looked like before this episode.

Thank you in advance

Insurance isn't totaling it out? When I rolled a Toyota 4x4 a couple of decades ago, it got towed to a yard and I never saw it again.

We just kept Liability on it with the hope that my kid would make it last through her Senior year, we missed that goal by a few months.

Sell the motor and trans on Craigslist, everything else the buyer gets for free.

Two options come to mind....

You could post itin a similar fashion as you did here and ask for best offer...

Or, some folks will tow it away and give you some cash....the amount varies. I did this with some vehicles my in-laws had sitting on their property a few years ago.

Sell it as a parts truck on craigslist. A junkyard will only give you like 150 bucks or so, last I saw steel prices are pretty low

He's the type of guy that doesn't know how to operate a socket wrench and takes his cars to the tire shop when the tires get low
