The governor announced Wednesday he is mandating colleges take a closer look at their diversity, equity and inclusion, or DEI, programs, to cut down on spending. Stitt says those taxpayer and tuition dollars should be going towards educating the next generation, not funding the salaries of DEI officers.

People don't like this RINO who is in the Senate, especially after he was re-elected for another six year term.

Yeah, I heard this from people at work. Usually north of OK City. I never feel them. Some people suspect it is due to the drilling, although talking with old timers, they've drilled here for decades. Perhaps fracking? Dunno. It's a dry state, to subtract water from fracking and growing Chinese owned weed is concerning.

Lots of people here who work for oil/gas and geology, when oil is high.

Jury says The Oklahoman defamed announcer, awards $25 million in damages; Gannett to appeal

On March 11, 2021, before a girls playoff game between Norman and Midwest City, members of the Norman team knelt during the national anthem.

The game was being streamed by a broadcast company owned by Matt Rowan, who along with Sapulpa was announcing the game, which was being carried by the NFHS Network.

As the Norman players knelt, a live microphone caught Rowan making racist comments toward members of the team.

"They're kneeling? (Expletive) (racial slur). I hope Norman get their ass kicked. (Expletive) them. I hope they lose…

"They're going to kneel like that? Hell no."

The Oklahoman corrected the online story within 2 ½ hours as information became clear that his co-announcer made the inflammatory remarks. Sapulpa’s name did not appear in the print version of the story that appeared the next day.

Norman is the liberal, college town here.

The modern shopping cart was invented by Sylvan Goldman, a grocer from Oklahoma City. According to the Oklahoma Historical Society, “While living in California, Sylvan and [his brother] Alfred were intrigued by a new type of grocery store that offered all products under one roof—the supermarket. The brothers returned to Oklahoma in order to bring this new way of shopping to their home state.”

Governor Stitt Celebrates End of State Grocery Tax

Quote:
Thursday, February 22, 2024
Today, Governor Kevin Stitt released the following statement celebrating the passage of HB 1955, cutting the state grocery tax:
"Today, we get to fulfill a promise to all four million Oklahomans and pass the largest single year tax cut in Oklahoma history. Cutting the grocery tax means relief for all Oklahomans.

"I’ve called for tax cuts since 2019 and in 2022 I called a special session specifically to cut the grocery tax. I want to thank Speaker McCall and the House for tirelessly fighting for tax cuts, and to Pro Tem Treat and the Senate for sending this to my desk.

"I’m going to always fight for limited government and lower taxes, and I will still advocate to get us on path to zero income tax. This is a victory I’m excited to celebrate."
