I haven't seen much on the news, I know big surprise, but what are people seeing in how the Taliban is regaining the territory so quickly?
I know the Afghan forces aren't great but since they get executed once they surrender you would think they would fight harder.

All I have seen is they may be doing tactical car bombing against government/military/police leadership.

Are citizens not armed so they can't stop the Taliban coming in?
Is there some tactic the Taliban uses to quickly take over and demoralize these much larger cities?

Kabul will fall shortly. They are now sending in US forces back in to evacuate people.

Not sure why anybody in DC would think US would do better there than British, or Russians... 21 century , IMHO, thanks to neocons, saw the worst application and squandering of US military might, blood and treasure in the world's worst shitholes in a senseless "asymmetric" manner. "Nation-building" is a BS. It never really worked anywhere, anytime.... USA itself strictly speaking is not a "nation-state". And "war on terror" eroded American liberties beyond any terrorist dream.
