I was expecting the lower to be marked with something like BELAY, CRUISE, and DEPLOY, in true Aero fashion. Kinda disappointed they just have the standard safe/fire pictograms.

Haha!!!! Funny guy.
Belay:stop/cancel
Cruise: what you do in a car with the Command Master Chiefs daughter(or the daughter of a Sergeant Major, if you live near an army base)
Deploy: I did one of those once. Sammie’s couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn with a RPG, idk why the hell they were shooting at our little dingy. A secondary use of the word deploy is when you and your buddies get off of “trop hours” and head to the bar to chase some local tail.

I was on a ship where the BMOW or POOW's would insert 'Belay my last' any time they made a mistake talking over the 1MC.
They did it so often (sometimes 2-3 times for a single announcement) the Captain put in the POD and announced over the 1MC that any corrections would be made using 'correction', and 'belay my last' was prohibited.
Must have been driving him nuts.

There was a Filipino in deck division that they always put on the sound powered phones. Got a big hoot out of it.
Nobody could understand much of what he said, even the other Filipinos as this guy spoke a dialect from an obscure mountain region.

We had a kid from bama that was the same way. Dude could talk 10 miles a minute with an accent so thick you’d catch about every 4th or 5th word. He was in main prop with me, and anytime the bridge would call down our EPO would make him answer the phone just to annoy the guys topside. We got a kick out of it
