Windshield needed.

Sun Sep 24, 2017 7:16 pm

I need advice as to where I can get a new windshield installed on my dime.
I've heard stories that if you pay cash you can get one heck of a deal. Don't know if that's rumor or fact though.
So, does anyone "know of a guy"?
Somewhere in and around Auburn would help the cause.

I went to Safelight in Federal Way 4 years ago (last time I needed one) and my 2011 Silverado cost me $227 out the door...

Be careful for cheap installs/parts. Lots of after market glass is much thinner/lighter and chip/crack easily. Some even crack over the defroster vents come winter freeze.

Microchip

Found them on yelp of all places.

I had them do my truck and car at the same time. For the truck I took all the trim off and put it back on since half the clips needed to be replaced ('87 ~300k miles). The car just had a rubber trim strip that they replaced with something similar.

The installer didn't need my help but he was cool with me giving him a hand. The truck had some rust that I needed to address. He worked on the car while I took care of that.

Price was better than the shops and they're mobile. Came right to my shop.

Just got this email:
Hello, the price for your windshield will be $190 plus tax free mobile service.

Not bad.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
After checking each one out, I went with Safelite.
Believe it or not, all were within $10 of each other.
I figured it's best to go with a national company, a lifetime warrantee and has country wide coverage no matter where I am.
Oh, it was $209 OTD. :thumbsup2:

Y’know, every 10 years or so, shit happens and I need to buy a new windshield. It costs a reasonable amount (maybe $200 as discussed), and after it’s done I’m always so amazed at how much better I can see, and how much less glare I have on the windshield, that I wonder why I don’t just replace it every couple of years just for the hell of it.

Well said.

It's almost ( :ROFLMAO: ) like driving a new car. Except for the little squeaks, rattles etc. But damn! The windshield sure is nice.

Safelite is all over. I'd call them to see how far they'd go.
I went to them so I could drink their coffee.

I hope you all know that if you have comprehensive coverage, you can go through your insurance. Comp claims do not count against your insurance. If you have a $200 deductible or higher, they will surely give you a cash price. Safelite is very good. Also, Genuine Auto Glass does a great job. You can always contact me and I can help you get a good deal on cash price with either company:)
