The governor is a Republican he better do the right thing. But don't count on it. RRA and Springfield Armory should be ashamed of themselves.

So... using the law, to pretty much create a monopoly.

All these state level restrictions should be challenged at the federal level.

That's a real shame. I'm guessing they'll learn, just like Ruger did.

That sucks. I have 2 RRA rifles that are hella accurate. They are made proprietary in many ways, like the barrel nut, so you can't use a lot of standard parts. This almost turned me away from buying them, but the 1 MOA guaranty made me give them a try. They shoot great out of the box, but being so limited on upgrades is a real turn off. Add this political horse shit in at a time when gun sales are dropping like Ed Murray's popularity amongst conservatives, and I see a perfect storm for RRA to go in the toilet.

Springfield maybe not so much because the long standing military use, but maybe.

My position? Fuck Springfield and RRA.

Springfield is not the same Springfield. The government owned Springfield Armory closed and eventually became a museum. Someone bought the name and started the current firearms company we know now. Though, a lot of the "M14s" that the Army made into the EBR were actually off the shelf Springfields because there weren't enough M14s left in inventory.

Did Springfield and RRA contribute directly or did they give money to the IFMA and that group used it however they saw fit?

Damn turncoats!! Proud to say I own nothing from them. This pretty much guarantees that I never will either.

That's a good question. They gave money to the IFMA.

However the more difficult question to answer is their level of involvement in the IFMA. The IFMA is a tax-exempt 527 organization that aims to influence firearms laws and regulations in IL, and because of that structure all contributions must be disclosed.

Only two entities have ever contributed money to the IFMA, Springfield Armory and RRA, both in the amount of $50,000.

Guilty as charged.

I am still reading up on the details, but it sure looks nasty. It looks like the victims of this sellout are the smaller FFLs.
I am fuzzy on what the small FFLs actually suffer... More taxes? Cap on sales? More inspections?
Until I understand it fully I will cross any RRA and SA items off my list. The "Range Officer" was on my short list and to be ordered by the end of May. Not anymore.

No. I don't think S&W learned anything. They still don't offer no-lock revolvers. It's not hurting sales enough to matter.
