Picked up a Savage Axis from Soly a while back. Outfitted it wit a Burris Fullfield 3-9 Scope. Finally made it to the range with it to Zero the scope before Deer season. Sent 3 rounds of PMC Bronze down range to determine a starting point. Looked through my spotting scope with great disappointment. Saw one hole at 12 O'clock about 8" high. Beings my point of aim was the Bull during all 3 rounds, I felt that the point of impact should have been pretty close at 100 yards.
Completely bewildered I decided to step up the power of my Spotting scope to 60X. Well I'm glad I did. Turns out that one hole was actually made by 3 bullets. Barely noticable but deffinately a clover leaf. This far exceeded my expectations of a sub $300 rifle. 10 rounds later I was punching a hole one inch north of the bull at 100 yards. Mulle deer beware. If you cross my cross hairs, you will also cross my plate.
*Note: Final adjustments were made with Hornady 168gr. match.

The savage axis is a great rifle at that price point. They are worth every penny of that $300.
