And as far as me missing the broader point, I’m well aware of it.

But the issue at hand, and the title of this thread, is concerning illegals immigrants being allowed to own guns, while there is no legal way for them to acquire them under current law.

"The court said they can posses a gun. Doesn't mean they can buy one. But how are they going to get a gun you ask? The usual way criminals do, steal, buy from somebody that already stole one, or borrow one (which is illegal in some states w/o a BGC.)"

So I guess this means criminals can now posse guns since ILLEGAL BORDER JUMPERS are already criminals also??

We say it all the time - criminals don't care about the law. Someone who is here illegally has already demonstrated a lack of regard for our laws; it should come as no surprise that immigrations laws aren't the only laws they ignore. Take this case of the illegal alien who was arrested for a crime and was found to be in possession of a firearm. That comes as no surprise to me. And his possession of a firearm doesn't strike me as his most egregious offense. Treating it as though it is is not all that different from what the anti's do...they're always jumping all over every opportunity to put a negative spotlight on guns. So why are we getting sucked into the same trap? The real offense that needs to be addressed is his violation of our national sovereignty. Book him, prosecute him, convict him, and give him the boot. The gun possession issue is just a distraction; let's not legitimize the government's assumed authority to regulate who can and can't possess a firearm. That goes wholly against the spirit and plain text of the 2nd Amendment.

Like it or not, our opinions don't matter. This is really designed to drum up anti-gun sentiment among people who don't own guns. The fact that it also fires us up enough to start defeating our own arguments is just a bonus. I don't like the idea of millions of illegals being able to have guns -but really, if they are already here, a good number of them are going to get guns anyway. If it is dangerous for them to be armed, it should be more incentive for us to have better skills than they do.

A separate but critically important aspect is a rabidly anti 2A judge that absolutely hates the idea of armed Americans swivels 180 degrees and now champions illegal aliens as a foil to crash GCA 1968 and Brady.

Judges with situational logic are a serious threat.

Hey, if this leads to SCOTUS putting GCA into the trash I'm not going to complain. But we all know how this will actually play out.
