Maybe we can start with a proficiency law. Meaning of you aren't proficient at handling, shooting and terminology of guns you aren't allowed as a politician to participate in formation or discussion of firearm laws.

Might able to sneak something like that through under the guise of holding back pro gun politicians. Where in practice it holds back pro gun control politicians.
