Might have to be my next future adventure.... more likely not but an interesting idea.

Modular gun... in size and caliber.

Just drill out the "control group" and you have a personal firearm. I'm going to say it'll take quite a bit of investment to get the "right" jig and equipment and expertise to make it work.

Just an interesting idea. May have to ponder that one for a while.

I'm not much of an 80% guy, but that does sound interesting and different. thumbsup

I would be interested in one. The only issue I have is the cost. Sig Caliber x-Change kits are about $320-$400 which would give you everything you need other than the FCG. Add in the price for the 80% FCG and other small parts, they'd would have to sell for around $100. Otherwise it could cost more than a complete P320.

The Jig could be made out of injection molded plastic and/or they could center punch each location to avoid having to use a jig.

It will be interesting to see what the cost will be for an 80%

Granted my 80% AR lower was more than most when I did mine. It was a billet 7075 and anodized.

To have "made" my own is something beyond cost... but it has to be reasonable.

Price efficiency is not really the point of 80% builds unless you consider time absolutely worthless.

Built a Polymer 80 940c in about 30-minutes. The Glock makes sense because there is a lot of aftermarket slides, barrels, and other parts available. In fact, it was cheaper to build one with all the upgrades I wanted and didn't end up with a pile of extra parts. Just having a frame that had the finger grooves removed, double undercut trigger, and stippling saved me ~$300 right off the top.

The P320 has very little aftermarket support so other than the FCG everything is stock P320. So there's my rationale on cost.

Suddenly, most of the parts for these firing groups are no longer available almost everywhere I have looked.

Those that have some parts available, only have -some- parts. Those are going fast. Even though they are priced like they are made from gold.

If you could find all the parts, (You CAN'T buy the frame piece of the firing group. The piece these guys are thinking of making 80%ers out of.), you would spend so much you might as well watch for a used 320. And that's just the parts for the firing group...
