I'm thinking about getting a Tavor in 300 AAC. I'm having a problem figuring out the difference between the X95, and SAR versions. I know the 300 only comes in the SAR version, but I'm just curious on the difference.

Thanks, but link one is a conversion kit to turn a $2K gun to about a $3K gun. The 2nd link is for a x95 in 300. Neither one explains the difference.

I've had both (in 5.56) and currently have neither. I liked the x95 better--charging handle, mag release, mounting options were all improved. Both were cool and unique and great options for a shorter gun without needing a tax stamp. I found that I prefer ARs, however, and neither Tavor kept my attention long enough to be long term residents in my safe.

Next time you stop by I can show you better.
The x95 has a mag release button in front of the trigger. More like an ar. The sar has what almost looms like a trigger in frint of the mag well. The x95 has a shorter section from the magwell to the grip because there is o release lever. The grip on the x95 can be changed. The charging handle on the x95 is more to the rear instead of at the end of the stock. Better for short reach, but I like my sling mounted there. The x95 has three built in rails on the friend. At the 3, 6, and 9 pick positions. They are covered. The sar has a rail section that can be mounted at the 1 o'clock ish position. I prefer this because it doesn't need rail covers if you mount a light or grip. The sar forend can be replaced with extended rail pieces and has a spot for the switch if you are using the meprolight optic with built in laser. Both have a 16.5 inch barrel and thick buttstock pad to make 26 inches overall. You can get a 18 inch barrel in the sar. And it has a bayonet lug! The trigger on the x95 is better, but the trigger packs are interchangeable. Both can be swapped with the Geiselle or if you want the Romney. Or you can find someone who replaced theirs with one of the aftermarket trigger. It has one spring removed and the pivot point moved for better leverage. I prefer the sar because of the fore end, and charging handle location. Most of the internals are the same. Both need a slightly taller mount for optics because of the shape of the stock. About a quarter inch or so.
