Well I finally got the RDB I have been searching for and I have to say I am happy about it. I pulled it out of the box and the guy I bought it from left Magpul BUIS on it and an AFG as well as a sling on it as well as a few Pmags, I was glad about that because I hardly have any of those. My first impression was it is sturdy and well built. the only noise I heard when I shook it was the sling. With the sling off there was no noise. Lamrith had asked me if my but pad was loose as he thought his was, well it was not loose but it is rubber and is a little soft around the edges. It did not bother me when up to my shoulder, in fact when up to my shoulder I did not notice it in fact when I shouldered it it felt damn good and natural.


I added a Romeo5 to it when I got it home. This is not a really good choice because I have a stigmatism and all red dots seem to starburst on me so it cover a bit more of the target than it should. Interesting it has a 17.4 inch barrel compaired to the 16 inch barrel on my ar.





Today my wife had an early Dr appt for her wrist and when she got back she was waiting on a Rx to pick up but she had to go to work. Being the type of husband to do anything for his wife and seeing the opertunity to hit the range that is only a mile or 2 from the pharmacy I said I would pick them up for her. So I loaded up the RDB and a hundred rounds and went to pick up Connies meds. When I got to the range I had a good laugh I had told the girl that it was a new rifle and she asked me if it was bore sighted. I told her it had not and she asked if they could bore sight it for me so I wasn`t shooting 3 lanes over. Part of me knew thi was a joke but part of me was thinking some dumbass probably did this. The guy who came over and took my rifle over to bore sight it was a young guy and he pulled the charging handle back and looked at the right side and looked confused and then he looked at the left side and his eyes sort of bugged out as he was really confuse then went back to the right side then he looked at me and I showed him how they ejected out the bottom. His responce was "Strange" He was nice and even complimented the Romeo5 as the caps have slots to turn the elivation and left/right and are marked for direction.

I Finally got into the range and because it was bore sighted it took me 3 five shot groups to get it to where I was happy. I must say I love the trigger it is way better than my AR. There is no take up, your finger hit the trigger and it is solid and a mild 5-6 pound trigger ( I do not have a trigger gage) and it breaks cleanly and launches 55gr threw that hole in the paper you just made.
I have always heard about bullpup triggers being real shitty but I still always wanted a Bullpup. I am glad I waited and got this one. When you shoulder the RDB it feels natural I have the AFG and it feels great pulling it back into my shoulder like it is solidly part of you and the balance is unbelievable. It just feels right an I can`t wait to go up to the gravel pit and shoot some steel as I bet it will go from target to target fast and smooth. Also the Mag change is pretty awesome I found all I have to do is point my thumb to the left and pull my hand back pulling the rifle back into me and the mag drops free and my other hand is free to slap the mag into the rifle. The bolt release is a little stiff I am hoping that is because it new and will work into a lighter pull. Also for a quicker and more natural mag change they should make it so you push up as your hand would be in an upward motion from inserting the mag.

What would I change? I am not a fan of rails on handguards or on pistols, on the bottom I would like for it to be M-lok to attach the AFG. also bolt release is a little stiff and it would be nice if it pushed up instead of down as it would be more natural the way you change mags.

After sighting in this is from 25 yrds and again I get Starburst with red dots because of my eyes but I feel I wil be safe from the zombies with the use of the RDB.

I dry-fired lamrith's RDB, and I was pretty impressed with the trigger; it's definitely better than most bullpup triggers!

I'm eager to see what it sounds like with the suppressor on it. Given that there's no open ejection port next to your ear, I'm wondering if it will be a lot quieter than most semi-autos . . . which would be very welcome, in my book.

I did forget to mention that even though the RDB barrel is longer than my AR the muzzle is closer so you seem to hear it more

Great write up! I have not spent much quality time with mine yet :-/ I did shoot 20rnds thru it at end of NY shoot, just to check gas system was dialed in, but no sight in or paper target testing yet. I enjoyed the trigger and recoil on it was almost spongy in feeling, very unique

What were your thoughts on cheek-weld, getting behind optic and conflict with hearing protection? I had a set of electronic ear muffs and they were hitting the stock when I was trying to get in behind the sights, cracked myself in ear the 1st few shots...

Awesome you got the sling with yours, they come from factory with them, but mine did not have one.

The recoil almost reminded me of a 22 there was so little, as for the cheek-weld I had forgotten my ear muffs so I had to use the ear plugs and did not have a problem but now that you mention it I do see where muffs might rub. I will have to remember muffs next time to see what they do.

Very nice writeup! I haven't looked at the RDB much, but I have looked at the RFB (308). Does the RDB come with a cover for the rear metal piece, where your cheek weld is? The RFB does not, and I have read that it can get pretty cold in winter weather

PMags drop free for you? Lucky, they don't on my RDB. When the hammer is back the riveted sear bar presses inward on the magazine and keeps it from sliding out on its own.

Sent a mail to Keltec with a video showing the problem, they seemed rather uninterested but said I could send it in at my expense if I wanted. Haven't played with it much since, and haven't sent it in since I have the M-lok handguard from Life Industries on it and that thing would be a PITA to take off to send it in...

It is covered in plastic yes.


Does it not drop free on it's own, or is it locked in so you cannot pull it by hand either?

It's easy to pull out by hand, it just doesn't drop free. It also seems to make it harder to get magazines seated correctly while the bolt is locked back--need to really slam them in there.

I did not have this problem I just used my normal force, but I might use more force than you do.

I liked that RDB okay EXCEPT as a bench shooter. Ejecting brass out of the bottom as it does results in a lap full of hot brass and some tattoos on your arms if you wear short sleeves.

Other than that, it seemed like a good gun. Probably the best Keltec made. (that I've seen... although that CMR is pretty fun to shoot, too.)

Will it come out in 300 BO?

Mine is dropping free with no help. Hammer back, locked open, hammer down, I get no difference on mine.

I would sooo buy one. Be nice if they just came out with a barrel assembly to convert. I really is just a barrel change, and the Rdb has adjustable gas already.
