I am trying to clean my 22 Sparrow, soaked the monocore baffle in Shooters Choice. Started to scrap after a short soak wrap and what I thought was carbon scrapes shiny and soft like lead. What is the best way to about removing the lead from the baffles? Thanks.

Ouch! https://www.silencershop.com/blog/post/ ... uppressorsSo, apparently running anodized aluminum parts in ultrasonic cleaners is not a good idea. I believe that so-called silencers, which are in fact just sound suppressors, are so easy and cheap to produce, so they must be disposable. Like engine oil filters. $400-$1500 for "can"? Gimme a break!

As long as you are careful and responsible with proper disposal of fluid...DIP technique works really good (50/50 mix of hydrogen peroxide and vinegar). Let it sit for a few hours and everything wipes clean with very little effort on my titanium baffles. Another good method is soda blasting (aluminum baffles comes out looking like new) https://youtu.be/mAup1HqDfMQhttps://youtu.be/Uh0i9Kl1AiISent from my SM-N975U1 using Tapatalk

The OP asked how to clean baffles. Not the outside of the “gun”.

Gimme a break! In some Scandanavian and other european countries you can buy a can from a bin at the local hardware store, maybe $20-30.. No paperwork. Wears out, just buy another one. Doesn't seem to be a problem. Very low homicide rate. Finland had that until 2011, now you have to register them as a gun part. Most countries out there encourage people to use a can; considered rude to your neighbors liverstock not to do so. In the US we watch too many old movies. Think everyone is the new Al Capone. Hiram Maxim pantened the first silencer based on a small engine muffler he designed.
