That’s definitely unique. I like that it runs without a booster, guessing that’s mostly due to how lightweight it is being all aluminum. I couldn’t find any info on their site regarding the expected lifespan of the can. I’m guessing it’s a bit shorter due to the aluminum baffles but maybe not?

Do you carry in a holster type that would allow you to keep the suppressor on?

I don't shoot as much as I should so it should outlast me anyway. I will now have all the suppressors needed. .22LR/7.62/9mm.

Its got something in it, gel/vaseline/dr. pepper/ something to help dampen the sound

Just shot it with my SFX and it would not cycle, any recommendations for a bullet weight that might help?
I did shoot it without the can and it cycled fine. Not sure of the ammo I was shooting just some loose FMJ I had.

Maybe they’re expecting it to be used on a shorter barrel than your sfx due to it being a “ccw suppressor?”

The whole purpose of a Nielsen device is to let the barrel unlock and begin to tilt before it has to bear the additional weight of the suppressor.

Maybe it needs a booster? Or perhaps it’s picky and will only run on shorter barrels?

Yeah, it's hard to imagine it would work reliably without a booster; I don't care how light it is.

golddigger, I had a similar but slightly different issue on Saturday. I shot a custom built G17 gen3 (RTF2 frame, OEM LPK, Brownells RMR slide, OEM slide parts kit, LWD tungsten guide rod/recoil spring asssembly, Surefire/Zev branded threaded barrel) and my AAC TiRant-9 can w/ booster. I've never, ever had an issue with the booster on this can not working properly on any other host firearm. But I could not get the slide to go back fully into battery after ejection. My first thought was that the recoil spring was the culprit. Then I checked the booster and it was super crusty, so then I thought maybe it didn't have full range of motion. Then it occurred to me that this is the first time shooting this barrel in this gun with a can on it, and perhaps the tolerance is tight on the slide. I just took the can off and decided to deal with it another day.

The point is that there are a lot of variables, and I wouldn't automatically assume it's the ammo you were using. A lighter recoil spring can allow the slide to move more freely rearward, but it might work against sound suppression by allowing the breach to open prematurely. A heavier recoil spring will keep it locked up better, but it might be preventing full rearward travel of the slide, especially with the added weight of the can with no booster. My first instinct with your setup would be to switch to a lighter recoil spring and see if that gives your slide a more full range of cycle.

After you saw it was crusty, did you lube it? Was it dry to begin with? A little lube can go a long way with the booster.

I didn't lube it. I thought about it, but I knew what it really needed was a good, long soak and a solid scrub, so I took the can off and moved on to the next thing. I'm going back to the range next week to function test a couple new pistols so I'll clean the can this weekend and try again. I'll also bring some different power springs and play about with those.

What do you use for cleaning your suppressor guts? I’ve recently discovered how well CLR works and haven’t used anything since.

People clean suppressors?
I cleaned one, one time. It was overrated.
