I would use the same grease I use to lube brake calipers so they slide. Silglide.

I use SilGlyde as well, the stuff in the blue tube from NAPA auto parts. It works well to lube the piston and as an ablative. (It won't make your suppressor as quiet as adding water, but it does help and it lasts a lot longer.)

Do you apply a thick coating or just do a quick run and wipe the excess away ?

For the piston I just smear a thin layer on the lugs and in the booster and re-assemble; no need to wipe anything off but it doesn't need heavy gobs of grease either. A side benefit is if you do this relatively often, it'll keep the carbon fouling soft instead of building up rock hard residue.

For ablative in the suppressor I just smear a pea-sized lump or two on the inside wall between the first baffle and the booster. It'll spread itself around when you shoot.

I use grease blue high temp auto brake grease.for sliding surface contact, lighter oil for rotating.

My kids call it 'ancient grease' because it's been sitting on the table next to my recliner for years. Hahaha
Use it all the time.

I used to use it in rocket motors. It made the cases easier to clean after launching them

Interesting. I used to be a pyrotechnist and PGI member.
Think we talked about this before.
