Post ARR - Evergreen Sportsman's Club
Today, fellow member Olydemon and I ventured out of our comfort zone of Capitol Forest. Since he needed to chrono a few rounds and the weather was crappy, we decided to hit up Evergreen Sportsman's Club.

Initial reaction was; "This place is HUGE", and it is. Mainly designed for the skeet and trap shooter, this place is geared heavily for shotguns. Since we were not partaking in that activity, we paid our $10 non-member fee and went off to the rifle/pistol range. There were a few people there, but not crowded. We met up with Richard, the range master, who signed us in. He saw our Chrony and said we could go use the small action bay so we could go pull our own targets whenever.... NICE!

The action bay is a 25 yard bay, right next to the rifle/pistol area. A couple of canopies provided some cover and we shot, a lot. The rifle/pistol range is covered, with cold ranges called often for target swaps. They provide you the target stands to put your targets on, and.... hehe... tannerite is allowed.

Overall impression is a great facility. The range was clean and well run. There were no freakish rules (that I saw) and drawing from holster, double taps, rapid fire all seemed to be status quo. I will definitely be going back. Richard mentioned that in the summertime, or decent weather days, the range can get pretty packed, with people 5 deep waiting (eesh!)

Oh and yes, both Oly and I were sporting our schwag and I even passed out some cards.

Pic of Oly lining up his 22/45, look at the smile on his face..

Richard is an awesome guy. The rifle/pistol range is well cared for.

I couldn't agree more! Very talkative and helpful. He was more than boastful about the revision the range went through this year. It was clean too... eerily clean.

Well it wasnt perfectly clean. They had an abundance of little tubular brass colored things that posed an immediate danger of rolling an ankle or worse. So Dan and I made sure to rectify that and promptly cleaned up a few bags of this dangerous item. We will be sure to return often to make sure they are keeping this area clean, and if they dont, we will be sure to help out. icon_super

And of course since I got in trouble as the official camera guy and not taking pictures at Countyline, here are a couple images.

You can see those dangerous brass colored things in the lower right of the photo...

Dan almost died seeing all the .223 that was on the ground by a couple shooters and they had no intention of picking up. Going to a range though you never know the rules for taking brass.

mine isn't the range it is in the woods actually 4 or five shooting pits avail. I only picked up brass from 1 pit so far as I am hunting and just checking loads I loaded up from the day prior or bored in mid day when the Deer are playing in the woods and I am waiting for them to get in the clearings.... I need to get my GPS coord. to update. this is a good spot for the folks in enumclaw and auburn. Mt. Baker....

I was a member of the evergreen club of a year. I like the range and the range officers seemed ok. The big downer for me and why I didnt renew my membership is that the club is mostly shotgun guys, shooting trap compitition all summer. They hold some large multi day events and when ever a trap compitition is going of the rifle/pistol range is closed.
