Does that mean no one took advantage of the 10% discount?

Man, what a day. My body hasn't yet acclimated to the change in weather, and these hot days are taking their toll. The SWMBO has kept me locked in the basement for several weeks which hasn't helped with getting used to the heat.

So today she dropped me off at a relatively busy corner in Centralia with the admonition "Bitch, you shake that money maker, and don't text me that you're ready to get picked up until you've earned $10."
Then she peeled out in a cloud of dust and rubber smoke.

Gee Willickers!! 10 Dollars!? Dammit... I haven't earned that much in 12 hours shaking this old ass on a street corner in at least a decade. She set the bar high.
Well, I'll skip the details about how I finally got to $10.43 (unless someone wants to hear the details?) but I can tell you that at the end of my "shift" as she called it I was hot, dirty, sweaty and sticky. Kind of stinky too.
So I texted her that I got $10+ some change and was ready for my ride home to the basement.
She comes driving up in her big shiny Caddy, sporting a Fedora and a long mink stole, popped the trunk and gestured with her thumb. I jumped in the trunk and pulled it closed behind me, 'cuz she really gets irritated if I start begging to ride up front lately.
Man, that trunk was HOT, and my stench was overpowering... I texted her "Please, can we stop by the Centralia fairgrounds and pick up some of the soap from Rencorp please?" She pulls over to the side of the road and I could hear her pulling the whip out of it's case and I am thinking "No, god no, why?!" the trunk flies open and she gives me one good crack with the whip ... I screamed and tried to wriggle up against the back seat part of the trunk and then I was saved by the Eau de Hot Hombre as she almost gagged.
"Fine, you really do need a good cleaning. Shut your mouth and hand me the phone, and we'll pick up some of that surplus Russian soap." I tried to reach out and hug her leg in a show of my gratitude for her merciful granting of my request to clean up, but she was too quick and slammed the trunk lid down on my outstretched arms.

Anyway, so YES!!! I am going to get a hot shower with real soap!

She sent me in to the building where Rencorp sells his cases of soap cheap, and he saw me coming and broke out in a big laugh.
"She put your ass on the corner again?" I nod, and like a good friend he laughs even harder. What a pal.

"So you have any cheap soap Mr Funnyman? She didn't give me much cash, so what do you have?" I toss him the coins and Rene pulled out two big wooden crates from under his table.
"Take 'em both, you're dirty enough to need at least one today, and who knows if she'll let you buy more the next time you're done hooking for the day."

He loaned me his hand truck and I wheeled them out to SWMBO's Caddy, the whole time almost deliriously happy from imagining the hot shower I was going to be enjoying when we got home. The trunk pops open as I walk up and I try to lift the first crate in - drat, this is some heavy soap. Lugged it in there, and then the second crate. The car kind of sagged and I got the evil eye from SWMBO'd... I just shrugged and ran Rene's hand truck back to him. As I started back for the Caddy Rene said "Adios chump. Enjoy your soapy shower" in kind of a mean way... like he had something he knew and I didn't, and he was going to enjoy this. Whatever.

When we got home I opened up one of the crates... They looked like this on the outside:


So I get to work clawing the box open with my fingers (SWMBO'd doesn't let me get anywhere near tools since my last (nearly successful) escape attempt.) 20 minutes later and I am looking inside at 4 metal cans of soap. There's only 3 in the pic, but it came with 4.
Man, I almost started crying like an even bigger baby when I thought I'd have to start digging through the metal cans to reach that soap, then I noticed the little sardine can type of opener and eagerly peeled back the lid...

Ah, 30 bars of surplus Russian military soap. As I fondled the bars I was thinking "Man, they sure beat the heck out of these things " as they were kind of "crumbly" feeling in my hands, like the bars had been broken up. Oh well. Soap is soap, and I have two crates of this to try to wash off the dirt and the shame that defined my day.
I just love how the Russkies got all artsy with their military soap... wrapping them in pink wrappers and neatly tying a lovely bow with some thin sisal twine. It's just darling.


Nice, eh?

And then as I was running my fingers along the pile of crumbly soap bars something happened.

Did that Mother F'ing Rene sell me f'ing brass cased 7.62x54R ammo instead of soap?!
And he smirked at me as I walked away!


I hope there is a special place in hades for French Canadian ExLogger VehicularTransfer Specialists Extraordinairy who knowingly and falsely misrepresent their brass cased milsurp Mosin food to hot dirty sweaty unwilling male prostitutes as crumbly military Russian surplus soap tied up in pretty pink paper with a cute sisal twine bow.
