They need to distance the gun check from the cashier. Make everyone go through him first or something. I know I've paid and had the chance to just walk in as the clearing check had a backup. Intimidation would go a long way to keep most noobs in check. Post a big threatening sign at the front. Have an extra big bouncer type asking everyone walking past the cashier if they declared and cleared all weapons.

The Dude....I nominate Brett

Every gunshow ND in recent memory has been a vendor.

Glad no one was hurt, but sounds like some assbeatings are due.

It was a lever action. I was at the door when it went off and the guy running things brought the rifle out to make sure it was cleared. It was the vendor that screwed up on this one, brought a loaded gun into the show and didn't zip tie.

No worries Aaron...You can TT one of them tomorrow, he will be @ the show, and the Dbag more than likely will be there with more firearms...Hopefully they check him closer.

And Yes it was a Model 99 in .308...and not a very good one at that..Drilled, Tapped and scoped

If any of You have a 99 with the 110xxx serial number range, make sure the safety work, or has been changed by the factory...A safety is no excuse for improperly handling a firearm, but these will go of with a round in the chamber, and without touching the trigger. Just applying the safety will sometimes cause a ND...

Not true. It was checked at the door, zip-tied AND stickered by the security guy. I know for a FACT it had a tie and sticker on it as I saw the tie and sticker on it. I have the table next to Chet and had that rifle in my hands not five minutes before the ND. I had handed it back so I could go get a BlueBook.
My bet is Mike at the door dropped the lever to check the chamber, but didn't notice a round in the magazine. When he brought the lever back up to zip-tie it closed and add the sticker, a round was chambered.

Stop trying to blame the guy at the door.
People have got to be responsible for themselves.

The number one thing that absolutely has to stop is pulling the fucking trigger!

Seriously, how many of you pick up a gun/rifle and without looking at it, pull the trigger?
