Funny part is - you don't hear one negative word from Wes Knodel regarding the WAC - nothing.
That - is class.
It is all WAC hacking on Wes Knodel.
Also............................
It is not like the Tacoma Dome organization's calendar of available dates was blessed or vetted by the WAC.
The way WAC talks, you would think the dates were set to purposefully coincide with the WAC's then unpublished show dates.
Oh. Wait..................

For the first time EVER, my mail contained a post card reminding me of the WAC show. Pretty fancy one too.
Someone is nervous.... scared..... whatever word you want to use. As a WAC member.... I'm kinda disappointed.

Heard a good one today....
"Wes Knodel told every table holder at his Centralia shows, that if they go to Puyallup instead of to the Tacoma Dome, to never plan on getting a table at his shows again."
3 guesses where it came from.

This + DOR thing = fuck WAC right in its stupid ass.
Sorry folks. I spend all day at work writing PC emails when all I want to do is tell someone how stupid they are. I needed to say EXACTLY what I felt. Lol

Last WAC show. My membership had expired a couple months earlier. My teen son and I approached the gate, I was packing a M1A. Had my expired badge on display. At the gate I was stopped, told I needed to return the rifle to my vehicle then return to renew my membership. I regard that as unsafe. I tried looking inside to see if someone I knew might take custody of the rifle whilst I renewed. The dude who was guarding the gate actually sidled back and forth to block my view. 1: I could return home (15 miles) leave the rifle, return and renew membership, then return home, pick up the rifle, and enter. 75 miles. Meh. 2: I could return the rifle to my vehicle and leave my son to "guard" the vehicle. Nooooo... 3: I could just go home. Winner.
Told the guy I would not be renewing my WAC membership, after decades. He sneered.
Edit: Ironically, as I am now well past 65, I was planning to take out a life membership. Perhaps the security dude did me a favor.
Tacoma Dome gets a try.

Tacoma Dome gets a try. So, after decades of being a WAC member you don't remember the rules? Sure, it's your choice to not to renew but don't try to put the blame on them for not renewing in time.

Yup. What I did not expect was no reasonable accommodation for the rifle. A designated person, a locker. The result was an utterly impractical and unsafe situation. That was capped by an arrogant and insulting staffer. My sense is that the lawyers have done their bit, yet again.
That said, my memberships in the past have been predicated on the notion that WAC deserved my support. I only attended 2 or 3 times a year, have not done an actual firearms transaction there in years. Mostly enjoy the social interactions, the period or specialty static displays. and hunting for obscure mil-surp components and odd ball ammo. I am in the habit of taking a rifle, mostly for the conversations such elicit. One thing about the shows, they are excellent learning venues.

Gun shows are all good, some r just better than others. I will b attending the Tacoma show just for the fact that I will always support a new show....and Wes is a great guy to do business with. WAC is established. The potential for the Tacoma show I believe could grow to b one of the larger shows in the country, rumored to have shows there quarterly....nice!

I've been to numerous Wes Knodel shows and not only walked away empty handed, but also shaking my head and wondering why I just wasted X amount of time.... Same here. At both WK shows AND WAC shows, though.

I left the last WK show in centrailia empty handed. Only a couple times in the last 5 years have I left a WAC show in the same way. Usually I find some small thing I need or want. The height of the madness was one of those times. I'll still trade my plastic/dpms AR for a tundra though.

After 11 years of WAC membership (got it at 18) I was being sent to work out of the country, my badge was set to expire within 90 days. I contacted WAC and told them I may be out of the country when my badge expires, so could I renew early. Was told no, you'll be fine, we have this recorded in your record so when you get back just come see us at the show and we'll get you renewed. So I did. I had to pay to get in at the door, cuz I was "expired". OK, I'll get it refunded inside. Nope, not so much. Was treated like a complete and utter criminal--I've had better interactions with arrogant police officers than with the WAC people inside--and was told I would have to start the entire process over because, and I quote "when you let your membership expire without feeling the need to renew, you became just like the rest of them, and must start over." Without feeling the need? Like the rest of them? Needless to say, they also had no record of anyone recording anything in my record, and the lady I spoke to (name withheld) was not at the show and I would have to call the office on Monday to "get your mess figured out." That was 2007. Haven't been to a WAC show since. Not quite the same situation as corpsman's but similar enough to remind me why I don't go back.

And this is why I simply won't do business with WAC...between online forums, CL, Amazon and e-Bay, I don't need to waste my time supporting an organization that fails to respect its members. I could care less if I pay the same price or less for stuff - it isn't worth dealing with WAC's crap.
