puyallup gun show Dec 17-18- what a joke on some pricing

I was at the show this weekend and it great to see that AR's Ak's and ammo price have gone down but I must ask what the hell is some of these vendors thinking. Saw many crazy prices on Mosin nagants asking 400 and up, sks's that looked Like garbage and people asking for prices like Sandy hook had happened again. Over 500 and they weren't anything great I.e. naranco, Russian. One of the magazine dealers wa selling commercial spec ak74 mags for 27 buckets when they can be easily found online for 16.99. I feel like I'm not the only one who saw this. My best friend who was with me saw a m1 garand for 4k, he asked the dealer why is it that price and he couldn't give I'm a straight answer. Is there anyone else who saw this kinda stuff???

On the contrary I saw some great prices, Colt 6920 for 900$ (yes I know AR prices are down but the Ponies seem to fetch some very odd amounts of $$$) I also saw a Ruger SP101 for 425$ as well as my badass purchase..............Ill start the thread after I'm done with my chores.

As I said. I saw great prices for AK's and AR'S. What I didn't see was on anything that is in the milsurp area

I saw one dude who was selling used hk gi mags for 29 bucks and regular gi mags for 15-20 bucks.

I see high prices for some the stuff I'm looking for almost every time. Most of the stuff I see is full retail. To me the most of the ammo prices seem really high.

This topic has been endlessly debated, and there is little new that I can add. But the OP and Drec both touch on the salient point. It is a matter of deciding the purpose of gun shows. That is: Are gun shows:

1. A place/time to find unusual/rare/uncommon firearms/ammunition?
2. A place/time to get common and somewhat common firearms/ammo for less-than-retail?
3. A place/time to hang out with like-minded gun owners?

For me, gun shows are just not that interesting anymore. I used to attend because of #1. But in this digital age, I can find whatever I need just by searching the Internet. Personally, I never attended gun shows for reason #2----and definitely not for reason #3.

All three were totally legit reasons before mandatory background checks. But yeah, it always seemed like a lot of time spent to maybe find something interesting/a good deal. Too many guys, as the OP points out, think their crap is special.

I bought a magazine from him for a P64; which was a little more than an EBay price. There was another dealer that had one; which was $10 more, I asked him why it was so high and he didn't answer. He probably still has it.

Well there are deals. Some sellers are waiting for the fish to come in and are in no hurry to sell to the knowledgeable. Others are motivated.

Started to see some deals on guns. But if you want humor look at ammo prices on Gunbroker vs. the standard good guys on line.

When you ask someone why their price is so high, what kind of answer are you expecting?

When I ask and the price higher than I think that it should be, I usually don't say anything. When it is a crazy high price, I might ask why it is so high. I'm not expecting an answer, just letting them know that I think it is high. Not looking for a conversation on the price. If it something that I've been looking for, for a long time I might buy it, otherwise they can keep it.

I go to a lot of automobile related swap meets. What is hard to understand the people that think their stuff is gold. They have the same stuff at every swap meet. If I'm going to sell it, I don't want to take it back home. I'm not talking about giving away, but a reasonable price.

I was able to find a nice Polish M44 Mosin Nagant for $200 at the Centralia show. The BG check took less than ten minutes and was free. My son and I took it to the range today and warmed it up. I'm very happy about my purchase. :)
