So I took a risk and agreed to buy three guns without physically seeing them first, I only saw some pictures with bad lighting and no real detail.
So anyway, my neighbor down the street told me that the guy across the street from him was moving out of the country and needed to sell some guns, he offered me these for $1000, but I wasn't able to inspect them at the time and had the neighbor pay for them.
So when I did get to pick them up, what I got was a mint condition S&W model 29-3 made in 1983, unfortunately it was not a pinned and recessed gun, but it is as close as you can get (the P&R guns ended in 1981/82 with the introduction of the 29-3). The gun has the target hammer & trigger and came with the presentation case, tools and manuals (the flocking is MIA, but the plastic tray is in good shape, so it will be an easy restore). What it didn't come with was the target grips, some heathen put a set of Pachmayrs on it.......but I had a mint set of period correct Goncalo Alves grips for this gun...so it worked out. Here she is:
I also got this good condition Remington model 11-48 (recoil operated predecessor to the 1100) 12 gauge. Mechanically it is perfect and other than a crappy stock refinish (which I will remedy) it is in pretty good shape. It was made in Feb 1951, so it will be a mate to my 1955 Wingmaster
The third gun is a 70's vintage Marlin model 60, the squirel stock is cracked and repaired, so I will need to find a new one....any of you guys happen to have one??
Anyway for $1000 I don't think I did too bad
