Always stay alert, carrying openly or not. Which I know can be hard for us sometimes with (in my case atleast) kids. My two boys are 5 and 2 so they can be a handful sometimes when shopping.

I don't know if OC was the reason for the assault, but I strongly suspect that it is.
I don't OC myself, but am glad that it's still legal. Apparently someone at the Yakima Herald didn't like the attention this story got. All I could get from the link is that the page had been moved or removed.
Regardless, from what was reposted here, maybe the guy should have waited until the perp started to pull back to swing again then draw and just put him out of society's misery.
