337,503 Active CPL's in Washinton State

I was doing some research for a project and requested the number of CPL holders. I was very surprised that the number was over 300k.

population: 6,724,540
Active CPL's: 337,503
percentage: 19.924 (or 1 in 20 people have a CPL)

Is this the new math that is now being taught in public schools? ;)

BTW, it's been about 5% for the past many years.

337,503 / 6,724,540 = 0.05

0.05 = 5 %

Hard to beat old-school math.

1 in 20 = 5 %

1 in 5 = (approx) 19.925 %

Would be a nice ratio!

"Showing your work" may not fit the new-school paradigm with regard to "new math." :((

Very interesting. I'd love to know how many actually carry on a regular basis.

"Stats" the raw numbers is one thing but when you start "playing" with them... in the right or wrong hands can be used either way.

Like how many of that raw population is of legal age? Meets the criteria of being able to carry (legally)?

Of that how many hunt? How many shoot more than once a year? It can go on and on...

My whole mission is to get more folks to legally carry... more often and more proficiently :-bd

Let's celebrate that the numbers are growing!

Nice. It makes me happy to know more people are taking their own personal protection seriously. It also makes me happy to know that a few officers I have talked to about the whole thing are also happy to see citizens arming themselves. Just like the rules of firearms, "When it comes to safety, it's every ones business."

I showed my daughter the article without showing her "my math figures" and she said "that's about 5% of the population." Freakin kids...... from now on I will consult her before doing the math myself.....
