This is a topic we should pay attention to:

“Zero Tolerance” policies are out of control

http://hunting-washington.com/smf/index.php/topic,147689.0.html

This is a growing problem on a national scale. Other states have recognized the issue and are taking steps to correct it. Our legislators in Washington should consider doing the same.

Schools prove that there is no correlation of "Knowlege" and "Intelligence".

Teachers may have "knowlege" but "intelligence"??????? Not that I can see.

It's a freak out teeter totter....OMG go that way! OMG go the other way!

Someone needs to stuff a wooden block underneath each end, grab the participants by the collar and shake them back into normalville.

...but, then again.... that would be assault. :hook1:

Probably a good thing I don't have kids... I would send them to school every day in gun related stuff... NRA shirt, Glock hat, Sig Sauer backpack, Remington lunch box, Federal ammunition thermos...

I got a call from my sons principle warning me that if my son was to make a gun out of a paper clip again, he would be expelled. That was in the 3rd grade, two years ago.

How is home school doing?? If I have the time/ ability / resources I'm not sure I would bother with public school until HS. By then I would assume they are only indoctrinated by the right people. Don't w9rry, I'd teach music class as well.

Thank you, this is a good example of how ridiculous, irrational, and out of control things have become. It's too bad you didn't get Fox News to report on it. The headline would have read, "3rd Grader Threatened With Expulsion for Bending a Paperclip into the Shape of a Gun!" The bent paperclip is every bit a "deadly weapon" as a pop-tart chewed into the shape of a gun, or a piece of paper ripped into the shape of a gun, or an index finger and thumb shaped like a gun (it's worse if they say "pow"), wearing an NRA t-shirt, etc.

New information is added to the original post as it is discovered. We may need to push for legislation in Washington to protect our children from the irrational and abusive behaviors of some teachers and school administrators with their total lack of common sense in the application of "Zero Tolerance" policies. This is not propaganda, these incidents are actually happening in Washington and around the country as clearly illustrated in the examples listed to date.

I remember in 6th grade I got detention for "play fighting". That's right, pretending to do ninja moves on my friend got me 2 hours after school. :facepalm2:

I know Somebody who was expelled for drawing a picture of a pistol on the whiteboard in class. Her actual nickname is pistol so she drew it for that reason.

The schools are forced into these policies and decisions by irrational litigious parents. If the school didn't take action they would be sued by shitty parents. I'd love to see people put the blame where it belongs. school administration is in full CYA mode these days because they can't afford any lawsuits when citizens keep cutting the education budget each year.

In the end, we're getting the public education we pay for.

In fourth grade my son was suspended from school for saying he wanted to nuke the school with a V-2 rocket launcher. The teacher had no idea that a V-2 is bigger than my house and I am sure I would know if he had one. Suspended for three days. On leaving the office my first words to him were you know better than to talk like that......Lets go shooting.
