Don't they have sharpie's in Pasco?? 10 second fix to any such sign!

I'm actually shocked that the gangbangers down there haven't tagged the signs already forcing them to be replaced.

Yhea, the "we can't afford" excuse is bullshit. How much $$ does a strip of electrical tape cost etc?

Likely just an old sign... Vancouver still has some up too... They slowly are replacing them... As they get old, break and or are vandalized.

In some parks they have to replace them because of bullet holes icon_eek icon_eek

My post on the Facebook page KPR Tri-Cities Anti No Gun Zones...

SAFETY EVENTUALLY?
In this struggle to get the illegal "Firearms Free" signs removed from City of Pasco, WA parks, I am seeing that the Mayor (possibly other council members) is playing the fiscal responsibility card.

In response, I would ask that any and every one of you who contacts the Mayor, council members, police, or news media would identify the signs as a potential danger to law abiding citizens.

How is it dangerous? We have seen in the past 2 days that employees of the Pasco police department BELIEVE the sign makes it illegal to carry in the park. The average citizen entering the park BELIEVES the sign is valid and makes a criminal of anyone carrying in the park.

I imagine multiple scenarios of open carriers (and concealed carriers who've been outed) being harassed by well meaning park goers. Law Enforcement being called and arriving ready for a gun fight. I see someone getting killed and bystanders being wounded.

Replacing the signs in due course is not an option when the safety of the community is at risk.

The City of Pasco has 'fixed' the Firearms Free signs.

Image

This morning I sent this message to let them know I appreciate being heard.

City of Pasco, WA
Mayor and all City Council Members,

Thank you for your quick action in dealing with this unfortunate "gun free zone" sign posted at city parks! I greatly appreciate the near immediate email/phone responses by Matt Watkins and Al Yenney. Other cities in Washington State having this "problem" should model their actions after the City of Pasco, WA.

Whether the other Rights Advocates contact you to express their appreciation or not, our online discussions about your quick action have been very much in your favor :)

Kinda along the same lines... We did the Seattle underground tour on July 4th. The company that runs the tours had a sign stating some ordinance if alcohol is served then firearms are prohibited. I aware of the 21 and over only law, but there were kids everywhere and no 21 and only signs.

Correct. It must be a green signed area.

THEY do the same thing in Pierce county and Tacoma, all say no firearms allowed, even one I know of charge you just to watch a softball game in a Tacoma metro park. I have contacted them, they ignore me so I disregard their signs since they are a violation of the law. MY GUESS is they either don't know about the court ruling on Seattle parks trying to do that or they just don't want to spend the money to change the signs or they don't care. IT IS A JOKE the metro parks in Tacoma close the park (5 mile drive) to the disabled in the morning. I have written them over and over about this illegal act but they do not care. I have thought of going to the county city bldg and file a complaint with them but I wrote the justice department and they don't give a shit. I guess under a-hole obama you have to be black or a woman to get any legal justice.
