So they other day I stopped by a new spot to get a growler fill. I don't see any signs that say firearms not permitted, over 21 only....nothing.

I go inside, taste a few brews, fill my growler and head back to the car. Over the course of conversation with the gal filling the growlers, I ask if they serve food, which they do not. I can only assume since they only serve alcohol, that the place would be off limits to under 21, and therefor unlawful to carry. Does that hold true if it is not conspicuously posted?

It was my understanding that the green sign must be posted at the entrance to the over 21 area. And there must be a separation between the two spaces overall. I don't have the RCW handy but that would be the place to look.

Looks like a sign must be posted, but I would not let that be your plan to not get in trouble. The WAC is here. http://apps.leg.wa.gov/wac/default.aspx?cite=314-11-060

While I could not find the exact wording I have been told the place has to rely on alcohol for less than 50% of its profit. If they do not serve food, I would leave.

I would say it's their job to post everything properly, not your job to infer how their business is structured and regulated. If they are supposed to be posting, then they are likely in violation, not you.

If you are talking about a place like Total Wine or Bevmo, children are allowed in the store so you can CC.
Bars and taverns are a no-no :thumbsup2:

Bevmo has a sign that says 21 and over. Total Wine does not. 99 Bottles does not.

This place is labeled as a "brewing company"...so not specifically a tavern or bar, and not specifically labeled as a Tap Room.

Do they serve beer for consumption on premises? Seems that would make a difference too.

On a somewhat related tangent, would a full growler be considered an"open container"? They just have a screw top without any actual factory seal.

most places do a shrink wrap on the lid. I'd call that sealed.

I guess another reason I don't go there.

I've never seen any place shrink wrap a growler lid. If I remember correctly, the LCB allows patrons to take home partially-opened wine bottles (ones they didn't completely consume with their meal), so there must be some mechanism for that sort of "open container" to be legally transported. Now, if you're pulled over and the wine bottle is in your hand, you're probably screwed. :wink05:

Yeah the Key will be if children are allowed in the location and/or if there is signage. I see kids in Total wine and more all the time and there is no liquor control board signage.

Total Wine also shrink wraps the growlers. Nice to see a place that "gets it" and looks out for their customers like that.

Total Wine and 99 Bottles in Fed Way are usually where I fill up. They put some sort of plastic over it, then shrink it down with a hair dryer.

I guess the bottom line is do they have to post the Liquor control board sign? If they don't, can I assume I'm G2G?

While I agree that they are likely in violation I wouldn't risk it personally. I wouldn't want to be the test case for an issue like this.
