Hi guys, wondering if you can help me out.
Ive been trying to find out if i can legally "Gift" a lower receiver to my son for his 21st birthday (being that he can't buy it at age 20 now). Would that still be a straw purchase even though there is no money transaction between us?? Let me know what you guys think!
Or could i just purchase the stripped lower myself, and if anyone asks, just say that i built the whole AR and just gave it to him...

Welcome to WaGuns, Jake! I am assuming that your son can legally own firearms, and will be 21 by the time you give him the lower. If that's the case, I think it's legit. By the way, here's the family exception in 594: That piece of shit I594 wrote: (4) This section does not apply to: (a) A transfer between immediate family members, which for this subsection shall be limited to spouses, domestic partners, parents, children, siblings, grandparents, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, first cousins, aunts, and uncles, that is a bona fide gift;

Oh, and by the way . . . stripped lowers, in my opinion anyhow, are not covered by the state low on background checks/transfers (aka 594) anyhow: http://www.waguns.org/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=55731
