In Washington state, it's mandated we only get two choices. Voting! It works! If you don't vote, you can't complain! Amirite? Sent from my UAV using Disposition Matrix 2.0

Whether you like Soly or not this is a bigger issue. It sets precedence.
If they can lie about the numbers and get away with it here, what stops them from saying "Oh yeah we made like a hundred million billion from this tax and reduced violence by like twelve thousand %"
The idiots and uninformed will gobble that shit up.

This needs to be fought quickly and aggressively. Next thing other cities will try and enact the same stupid (illegal) law.

No doubt while the litigation is rolling some other cities WILL enact these.
By the time Chan was finally put to rest how many other cities had passed similar illegal parks bans? Quite a few, IIRC. However following Chan's resolution every other city repealed those rather than face the lawsuit, mostly due to their municipal insurance forcing them to via the city attorneys.

Looks like the lawsuit is a go. Start chipping in to SAF everyone. I put in $150. What will everyone else do? http://www.saf.org/?p=7320

We could be in some hot water. Our insane state supreme court has now jumped the shark with the charter schools decision. Since Chan we've had the court -attempt to seize control of the legislature's budget powers in McCleary -rule that the port of Seattle is part of a city whenever the court feels like it -rule that public schools open to any child aren't actually public schools Black is white. Up is down. In is out. This bodes ill for rule of law and preemption tossing out the Seattle Tax. Guess we'll have to see...

I can understand the school one since the public has no say in who is running the school, but I still think it is a stupid decision. Grant you they maybe just trying to get s much money to the normal schools as possible with so many teachers going on strike this year.

The "charter" that is the contract by which a Charter School runs has to be approved by... the government. It's only one or two steps removed from how a school board operates, and still subject to democracy. The ruling was bogus and just demonstrates that gun rights are in for a rough ride the next few years with this partisan, insane and corrupt court. You should read the SeaTac minimum wage decision. Scalia's "words have no meaning" phrase comes to mind.
