Post subject:  Gun transfers between family members WA STATE

Hi all,
My grandfather died recently and he had a lot of guns (all kinds of pistols and rifles), I was wondering what the laws were concerning getting them transferred to me and/or my brother.
I was reading this: https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=9.41.113 and from what I gather I do not need to do any title transfers? Do I have this correct? If not could someone run me through the process of getting the guns transferred?

Thanks guys

So with the following I have some questions...
Some other people who arent directly related want some of the guns and will have to go through a FFL, is there a chance the FFL would try to transfer the guns gifted to me so he could collect a fee? or does this only apply to the people who arent directly related?

RCW 9.41.113:

(3) Where neither party to a prospective firearms transaction is a licensed dealer, the parties to the transaction shall complete the sale or transfer through a licensed dealer as follows:
...
(4) This section does not apply to:

(a) A transfer between immediate family members, which for this subsection shall be limited to spouses, domestic partners, parents, children, siblings, grandparents, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, first cousins, aunts, and uncles, that is a bona fide gift;

is the power of attorney a family member? if not all guns need to go through a FFL since they are now in charge of the estate.

If he did it while he was alive is different and he is no longer in possession of them since he is passed on.

There are provisions in the law for inheriting guns without a transfer.

It's not the person holding a Power of Attorney but the Executor. The Executor is merely a "traffic cop" who directs the transfer of various parts of the estate. They never take ownership, merely collect an accounting of all assets and liabilities, then see to it that the beneficiaries receive their part of the estate.

If Grandpa dies and he left everything to Grandma, she can give the firearms to anyone she wants in the family. If Grandma is already dead then they all go to the next of kin (a family member) and they can also give the firearms to any family member they want without screwing around with I-594.

An Estate Sale is a whole different animal and firearm transfers have to go through the I-594 BS.

In my case, when my wife died, I not only had her DPOA (Durable power of attorney) I was her sole heir in her will, her executor, and had "Letters Testamentary" from the Court. Didn't really matter as her firearms were jointly owned and automatically became mine when she passed away.

Play ignorant and don't sweat I-594. In reality nobody will give a shit unless you are a felon or go out and shoot up a mall/school/concert.
