This is by far, the best video I found that shows the whole process...including prices/parts needed/used.

part 1

part 2

Short-cut for cheaters:
http://oldfaithfulholsters.com/shop/molded-kydex-shell/

If they have a pre-molded shell for your pistol (see drop-down menu under Select Options), it saves a lot of time and money to just buy the parts from them and customize/assemble the holster yourself.

I bought a girlie pink shell (in the IWB kit: http://oldfaithfulholsters.com/shop/quick-assemble-kit-inside-the-waistband-hip-gun-holster-kit/) for TheMissus' 380 Bersa plus some extra parts and flat Kydex so I can make one for my BuckMark someday. Good quality work on the shell, and the retention is adjustable.
:thumbsup2:

I've made numerous kydex holsters using a similar technique and process (from what I could determine by scanning through the video). Building your own kydex holsters is a blast. But it's pretty time consuming to achieve perfection.

Leif, those look nice! :thumbsup2:

On the Glock holster, it looks like your belt loop isn't really a "loop" -- it's just an L-shaped piece. Is that strong enough to keep the holster in place? Or would a complete loop have been better, in hindsight?

I modeled that holster after the Comp-Tac Infidel with belt clip: http://www.comp-tac.com/product_info.ph ... vsns4fbq43

I like the clip style because it's so easy to put on / off. That said, the clip (or L-shaped bent plastic  ) is definitely the weak-point in the design. I've never had any problem with the holster remaining attached in daily wear, coming off during a fast draw, even running, etc. It's top-notch there. But when 'stress testing' one once I did have it fail where the rivets attach it to the holster body. That failure occurred with a little less force than I would have liked. So went with a thicker version of the kydex and all has been well since.

But I'd like to do some experimenting with snap belt loops as well as some of the prefabbed clips that are out there. No interest in belt-loops like this.. Too time consuming to put on / off.. resulting in laziness and leaving the gun at home.

Best,
Leif

Interesting. Thank you.

Yeah, the full loops are a PITA if you take the holster on and off frequently.
