Hey there,

I am working on getting my FFL currently and I already have my land use permit for having a home business, I formed my LLC, got my Washington business license, received my EIN, and I am just about to get fingerprints done so I can submit my FFL application. I figure while I am waiting for that to be processed I'd like to get as much setup as possible, one of the things I am looking at is what bank to use and who to do credit card processing thru. I have read that a lot of FFLs will use US Bank as they are friendly and allow CC processing thru their Elavon processor. Not sure if that is still the way to go tho as the info I found online recommending them was from 2019.

TL;DR What banks you FFLs here using? and why ?

if this is the wrong place for this, my bad....wasn't sure where to post my question :-)

Congrats on the new venture!

I haven't run into any issues with credit unions (I use BECU until I can find a replacement), but I have had problems with credit card processing. I am using Fastcharge. They're rebranding themselves under Electronic Transfer. They claim to service some ungodly high percentage of firearms industry transactions. They're based in Spokane.

I've found them to be hugely helpful-when I have issues, questions, charge declines, anything, I get someone on the phone whom I know. One of their stated goals is to buffer their customers from the stupidity of the huge call centers of the companies they represent. .

If you call, tell them that Adventure Protection sent you.

Another company that I've been meaning to look at is Blue Dog (https://yourbluedog.com).

Happy to talk further if you'd like.

This is super helpful!! I wasn’t sure about credit unions but definitely prefer them so glad to hear becu is decent.

I have read about bluedog tho I haven’t contacted them yet, like the idea of a Washington based company so I’ll look up electronic transfer as well!

Thank you for the long descriptive reply! I still have a lot to get ready and need to setup so any and all tips are greatly appreciated…..

We've had some prior discussion about BECU, some of which applies to FFLs:

Hmmm….that’s not happy news, maybe I’ll look at Charles Schwab as well. I would prefer a bank or CU that has a branch location for cash dealings when they happen tho most likely.

Thanx the links they are super informative, I can’t google my way out of a paper bag let alone having much success with forum search engines usually [emoji23]

I haven’t decided on a credit card processor yet, but for banks I decided to go with kitsap credit union. Seems pretty good overall and their underwriters told my rep that firearms based business are NOT an exclusion from loans or anything like that :-)
