Starting today, sportsmen will discover the ‘Discover Pass’

Hunting seasons are still weeks away, but starting today – and worth thinking about over the 4th of July holiday weekend when we celebrate the birth of this nation (and reflect why taxation played a major role in the revolution) – many outdoorsmen and women may discover this state’s “Discover Pass” requirement the hard way.

Oh goodie... Can't wait to hear the reports of citations over the course of this weekend. It's like the mandated Boaters Card that went so silently into effect.

Crap! I totally forgot about that and was going to hit Capitol forest today.

"The Discover Pass costs $30 annually (with a $5 additional fee for the dealers)"

Does that mean its 35$ like a retailer will charge an extra 5 bucks.

If the annual cost is $30, why is the only option on the website to buy a 2011 pass for $30? 2011 is half over! that would be a $60 a year pass. Oh and it is per vehicle and non-transferable...

The pass is good for a year from purchase date, but it is $35, not $30..

Went to Lake Wenachee today and stopped at the state park entrance both north and south entrances posted DISCOVER PASS REQUIRED. So, we did not enter the north entrance but entered through the south entrance to get more info. There was no attendant on duty, so we turned around and left. Seems like a good idea now, seems I could have recieved a ticket just for passing a NON attended gate.

Thanks for the info!

I am waiting for Tim Eyeman to see this and start a petition, which would be a good thing if he did. Maybe an e-mail is in order.....
