I also have trouble seeing some head stamps on small diameter brass. I use the white plastic tray inserts, that factory ammo comes in. I put the primers DOWN, check inside for Berdan holes, then put another tray over the mouths, on top. Flip it over, so now the primers are UP. I use a magnifying glass to scan the head stamps. And you're good to go.

Hello All, I've enjoyed reading all the tips that are being used to cope with eyestrain. Glad I'm not the only one out there. I know that if my eyes do get tired because of the close work involved in reloading, I get tired and either stop or take a break to my eyes a rest. My work involves using a computer and writing all day. So I take regular breaks and then when I drive home my eyes are in great shape. Earlier this year, I got a new glasses, bifocals and that helped a great deal. Thanks for reading my post. Hope to see some of members at upcoming events. Going bowhunting in Sept 2015 for elk/deer. Hope to get one. If not, well at least I'm out the city. Away from phones, computers, buses, trains, and people. Where I just hear the sounds of the forest. Stay safe everyone.

Found a pair of those this summer in an Arlington hardware store while working on a project. They also make great shooting glasses, zero magnification looking through the scope, but for adjusting turrets, etc. look through the bifocals.

Got 'em today. They feel fairly comfortable, and the lenses seem good. The "reading glasses" bit is fairly small, so you can use them as regular safety glasses without the magnifier portion getting in the way. When I look through the magnifier lens, that up-close stuff is nice and clear. I haven't actually used them for any length of time yet, but so far I'm happy.

Have a lighted magnifier similar to this mounted to my bench. Works for more than just brass sorting. Many flavors of lighted magnifiers out there that would also work. google "illuminated magnifier"

I wish one of these had .001 graduation marks. It's still tough to see the little dimple through the scope of the Lee Brinnel hardness tester.
