Load developments are completed

Wed Aug 30, 2023 7:28 pm

Last week I made some load developments for an upcoming training session using two different powders (H322 & CFE223) for 62 grain FMJ’s.

I was able to escape the hacienda today to get to the range, ESC, and find the best groups. I think I have a good idea, now I’ve got to get back on the press to churn out some ammo..

I think I may have wasted some ammo on this string, the 25 grain load was best.

This string was a LD AR load that I already and mapped out except for fine tuning the seating depth.

Geeze your rifle sure liked 25gr of cfe, and the 22.4gr of H322 isn't far off.

I’ve been using those two powders exclusively for years since they were readily available after the Obammy days. I really like to keep things half way simple, I don’t need a bunch of different powders for .223/5.56. Just need to find their potential within my limits.
What I found that helps out is playing with the OAL.

Nice shooting Jim! I'm not even sure I remember how to squeeze a trigger anymore. It's been a minute...or two. icon_eek

I have been shooting more since I procured some steel targets, makes a range trip more funner bangin steel than punching paper.

Yeah, it does, doesn't it!

And there are certain excercises where I greatly value the instant hit/miss feedback. I'm enjoying mine too.
