CME Brewing: E-Storm by Friday?

Wed Nov 29, 2023 11:07 am

there's a huge plasma swell brewing, which if it lasts that long, may spawn a CME as strong as X.1. Flares are rated A,B,C, M and X (I don't think I left any out) with decimal inflections. This one was M.85 in another article I read.

https://www.masslive.com/weather/2023/1 ... earth.html

"This latest eruption was ranked as an M9.8-class solar flare, a few percentage points off from being classified as X-class, the most powerful type of solar flare, Space.com said. Within each letter class there is a one-to-nine scale that “gives the flare assessment greater precision with larger numbers representing more powerful flares within the class,” the website said."

There is another classification G1-5 mentioned in the article which measures the height from Sun's surface(?) and says this is expected to be around G2:

"The highest ejection level, a G5, “can cause complete high-frequency radio blackouts on the entire sunlit side of the Earth, lasting for a number of hours,” Space.com said. But after the G1 conditions on Thursday, forecasters expect conditions to only reach as high as G2 conditions as more ejections head toward Earth."

Space.com says life ending CME's don't happen (and while they say they can torch modern tech, they don't mention life-ending consequences from the effects of CME's on modern societies which rely on such tech)

"So-called "killer flares" do not exist and although solar flares can significantly disrupt the technological world, they don't contain enough energy to do any lasting damage to Earth itself. "

So, fri-bends, are your backup comms in your faraday cages?
