We also planted squash fairly late this year. We do have a ton of blueberries and raspberries right now though. |

Soil often has all of its nutrients stripped out after a few seasons. I always add some fresh dirt every spring to give the dirt more "umph". Ya my Berries are doing well also. I planted different strains of Blueberries (early-mid-late) so I would have Berries all summer. |

After my last plant comes out of the ground each year I run my rototill through the dirt, then cover it with black plastic sheeting for the winter if that's what your referring to? |

Every year I plant a cover crop to enrich my soil. There are many to choose from and you can harvest it, or cut it down for a green manure throughout the season. Some of them will even bloom in winter. Such as buckwheat. If you need to aerate your soil and drawn up some deep minerals and nutrients, look into tillage radish. You can plant in September and they will grow for the season, sending deep taproots and producing greens you can eat along the way. |

Tomatoes bugger than baseballs, Pumpkins bigger than two Basketballs, and Heirloom tomatoes o-plenty... I'm going to miss summer and the fresh veggies that go along with it.

Having recently learned that I can't eat tomatoes, I'm sincerely jealous that you're able to enjoy so many that look so yummy.

I love them also, but they all seem to be ripe all at the same time. Go from a few to bucket fulls in no time. I'm in talks with a local food bank to see if I can work something out and grow a bunch of veggies for them next year and expand my garden. |
